Review: In December of 2013, I contracted Brookfield electric to install a 20kw generator at my home. The contract stipulates that the contractor will handle the complete installation, Electrical, Plumbimg, all Permits, ConEdison Paperwork, and Inspections throughout the process to ensure proper installation of the generator. The generator is now finally installed, but the entire process was a nightmare. The contractor was highly disorganized, unresponsive, and unprofessional and failed to meet the obligations outlined in the contract in a timely manner. Many times thoughtout the 11 month process I tried to contact Brookfield to check on the status of the job and they were completely unreachable by phone, email, text, fax to office or work mobile. On a few occasions I would not get a return of call for 7+ days. After the contractor continuously blamed ConEdison for the delays, my wife and I contacted ConEdison and had to do all of the leg work to ensure the ConEdison crew installed the meter upgrade, and performed final inspections. Brookfield was completely absent from project for the last 2 months of the job and if not for my wife and I coordinating with COnedison, the TOwn of [redacted], the electrician and Plumber, we would still be without our generator. As if the case with our two neighbors who contracted with Brookfield at the same time. Additionally, there was damage to my lawn caused by brookfield's negligence. These damages totaled $600 to repair.Desired Settlement: I am asking for a credit of $1,500 from the final balance due to brookfield. The breakdown is $600 to cover the costs I incurred to repair the damage to my lawn and for failure to deliver on what the contract stipulates another $900. The contract stipulates that the contractor will handle the complete installation, Electrical, Plumbimg, all Permits, ConEdison Paperwork, and Inspections throughout the process.
