IN FEBRUARY 2014 THERE WAS A FIRE THAT COMPLETELY DESTROYED ONE OF THE TOWNHOUSES. THE HOA'S INSURANCE PAID FOR THE COMPLETE REBUILDING OF THE TOWNHOUSE. BECAUSE OF THAT FIRE THE HOA'S INSURANCE WAS NOT RENEWED AND...

THE HOA HAD TO FIND NEW INSURANCE. THE HOA'S INSURANCE INCREASED $65,000.00. IN JUNE OF 2014, ALL HOMEOWNERS IN THE HOA WERE ISSUED A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF APPROXIMATELY $606.00 TO COVER THE INCREASE IN THE INSURANCE COST FOR THE 2015 YEAR. IN JUNE 0F 2015 THE HOA WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN INSURANCE AT A COST. LESS THAN PREVIOUS YEARS COST BUT A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT WAS STILL NEEDED TO COVER THE INCREASE IN THE INSURANCE COST. I WOULD APPEAR THAT MR [redacted] HAS NOT PAID ONE OF THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH MR [redacted] AND MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY. I RECOMMENDED THAT HE MEET WITH OUR FINANCIAL MANAGER TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AS OF TODAY THEY HAVE NOT MET WITH HER.

This is in reply of your letter date 12-2-15. You know this management is not very honest. At first they sent me a bill for more than $600 to pay for a condo that was burned, I did not pay because there is insurance who will pay. Then after how many months the sent me a note of that $360.00 because the insurance went up. So I sent them a check of $360.00. I did not know that I owe a lot of money from them for how many months, until the collector sent me a bill, we went to the home owners association, what kind of bill is this because has late pays and so on. He said, all I know is that those bills is for the furniture assistment. Who is doing this bills I asked the manager of income and expenses, he give us the tell number, but no body answer, we called many times but no answer, so I just wrote the collection agency that I can not pay this bill because I have no money. I am already retired and 77 years old. My SS pention is only enough for the payment of our house. I pay $745.00 for my house mortgage, $252 for the home owners association. I have even a hard time paying my utility bills, [redacted] and [redacted], our food are mostly food stamp, our health care for my wife and child is also from the county, only mine is Medicare. Probably this home owners association is not spending the money wisely. Thank you.

Review: I just need help from you guys because our home owners association, is badly managed. The office is located at [redacted] First they sent me bill, that says I have to pay $686, because there was a fire among the condo. That’s my share but I ignored, because, I said, why should I pay when there’s insurance. They did not explain to me, that I have to pay. Then they sent me a bill worth $360 because, they said the insurance increased. So I sent $360 right away. All of a sudden a collection office sent me bill worth $1786.00, because I did not pay that amount.Desired Settlement: Even the $360, they denied that they got it. Even my payment in Oct. was already in the collection, when it was still (in the colle) September. My point is that, how come that they don’t inform us, only one bill, and then keep on adding interest for late payment.
