Brooklyn Movers

Review: I used Brooklyn Movers (also D/B/A Best Movers, NY Movers, and others) to transact my move from NY, NY [redacted] to LIC, NY [redacted]. I dealt with a gentleman named [redacted] throughout my proceedings ([redacted]) and a team of 3 gentlemen came to my apartment at 9:15am on the morning of June ** to transact the move. One of the items in the move included a red mesh laundry bag filled with clothing. One of the gentlemen - a young man - asked me if he was taking it or if we were taking it in our own car. I indicated that he was to take it, and his team set to taping it up to pack it in their vehicle. Later that same evening, after the move, I noticed that the red bag was missing. As it was 11pm, I emailed [redacted] to inquire. Upon no response, the next day I called [redacted], and he gave me the phone number of the actual gentleman who helped with my move. I called him to inquire. He responded that there was confusion and they thought it was garbage and they threw it out. I said, "I specifically noted that it was to be taken." He responded, "I believe you, but I still don't have it. What do you want me to do." He told me to go back to [redacted], with whom I had planned the move. Calls and emails to [redacted] were unanswered. My fiance, [redacted], called [redacted], and was again told to call the other number. Upon responding that the other number sent us back here, he said, "what do you want me to do" and hung up on [redacted].

Days later I again emailed [redacted], noting that this is the reason they carry insurance, that I don't want to have to go to small claims court, to please advise how we can work this out. The company is not returning my calls or emails. To date the company has never apologized.Desired Settlement: The company carries insurance, and they did not perform the main function of their job - to move my goods from one location to the other. They should ask me for an estimate for the clothing thrown out, and we should come to an agreement on an amount of money acceptable to make up for their error.
