Not happy
Don't make my mistake. Brooks was scheduled to start work. We planned a trip out of town thinking our floors will be done when we return. He stated he will be in my home after lunch the day we left. He never showed up. When I asked why he did not tell me he was delayed, no response. There are two imperfections at my entrance way. He said one cannot be fixed, the other could. He scheduled coming to my home three times, no show, no text. I don't expect to see Brooks again. Don't make my mistake

Brooks Pittman made a great first impression. His quote was reasonable, and he seemed like he knew what we were looking for when it came to finishing our hardwood floors. He showed up on a Saturday to look at the job and quote it. We hired him, and scheduled for him to start Tuesday, June 12th at 8:30am. He missed that time (which he scheduled) without communication to us beforehand, and that should have been our first clue. He wound up starting that afternoon instead. The guy that was there each morning (Wednesday and Thursday) was respectful to me as I was getting in my car to leave for work. As of Thursday, June 14th, the floor had been sanded and maybe had two coats of finish on it (we were quoted for three), and the stairs had been kind of sanded. Then they never came back. Friday, June 15th we tried to call Brooks, no answer. Texted Brooks. No answer. We finally received a text back from Brooks at around 9pm on Friday night saying that the floors were finished. But they weren’t, and we replied with our dissatisfaction, and requested he meet with us. No response. Sunday, June 17th, at 7:30pm, we again requested a meeting. The response came Monday afternoon, June 18th around 3pm, and all it said was “sorry man, have not forgot about the knots”. No indication that he would meet with us to discuss what we thought was wrong, and no indication of when he would complete the work. We responded that evening (June 18th, at 7:25pm) asking when he could be able to get out to our house to finish up and discuss the things we wanted to address. His response at 9:30 that night was “ok”. On Tuesday morning around 10:45, Brooks sent a text saying he had stopped by the house.
Now, before I continue, we had no notice that he was planning on stopping by, and had he have let himself in, that would have been a huge violation! We had left him a way in during the week that we knew he was working in our home; we removed his way in after Friday when he didn’t show up.
Continuing.
On Tuesday, June 19th at 8pm, we again requested to meet. Our request was for the following day, Wednesday, at 6pm (since morning does not seem to be his strong point). He replied at nearly 10:30 that night with “be back wed am”. I’m not even sure what that means in regards to meeting with us, but it was his only response. At some point, Brooks and my husband had finally met face to face, and discussed the issues. A week after the work was supposed to already be finished. Brooks had agreed to complete the work and fix the issues. (Removing the putty from knots were there was no supposed to be putty, completing the sanding on the stairs and leveling out the corners of the stairs that had never even been sanded…there are literally “humps” in the corners of every stair because they had not even touched them with a sander!)
On Friday, June 22nd at 8:50am, Brooks texted “happy with sheen”. We replied “Yes”. (I’m assuming this was because he was going to purchase more finish to do the third coat?)
On Friday at 10:50pm, Brooks texted “we just got back, will call in am”. And then another text “8”.
He didn’t call or come on Saturday. We never heard from him, despite phones calls and text messages.
On Sunday, June 24th at 5pm, Brooks texted “I can fix in am, leave door open…all stars and 10 u travel had me booked”.
At this point, we were done. There were some text messages back to Brooks explaining that, and some text messages back from Brooks with more excuses about family first and something about “games are played and then schedules are set”. I can only assume he is either a coach or an umpire for a travel sports league? Fine. No worries. But you will never convince me that you don’t know your travel schedule well enough in advance to communicate to your customers that you won’t be available when you previously told them you would be available. After the text message frenzy, Brooks finally decides to pick up the phone and actually call. This is where I lose all respect for him as a man. Instead of admitting to his mistakes, and just accepting that his lack of professionalism is what cost him the job, he decides to raise his voice with me and demand dates and times of when he failed to communicate. I realized right then that there was going to be no reasoning with him, no making him understand where he could have been better, and I told him that he needed to watch his tone with me, and that we were done.

Brooks Pittman Flooring, Inc. did an outstanding job sanding, refinishing my white oak hardwood floors. Mr. Pittman exhibited excellent knowledge of wood flooring and could easily and clearly explain any questions I had about why stain wood directly versus adding stain only to coatings, what keeps flooring consistent in color when rugs are used; what process is used and the reasons for each step in the process. He also fashioned some flooring boards for my 1923 floor where the original flooring had some damage when a new addition was added on. This flooring is often called "piano planks" and is no longer available and had to be cut from a 4x4 oak timber. The coloration matches so well no one will be able to discern the new from the original. Mr Pittman cares about the quality of his work and has encouraged his workman to do the same. I would invite him to do other flooring work for me as did my neighbor and that is when I met him.

Absolutely top notch. [redacted] sanded and refinished our existing hardwood and added hardwood to the rest of our 1st floor. They showed up when they said they would and completed the job on time. I would have them back to do more work if needed. 1st class operation!

Brooks Pittman flooring is an outstanding company!! They re-finished the entire first floor of our home. Our carpet was replaced with wood floor, existing wood refinished, and laundry room linoleum replaced with tile. We couldn't be more pleased with the results! We are extremely happy with our floors!! Their custom gray-brown stain color is amazing!! The transition from wood to tile is perfect! Brooks's company is a top-notch organization with superb customer service, attention to detail, and true craftsmanship. I would highly, highly recommend the company!! It was a real pleasure having them work in our home. All employees were very respectful of our home. Thanks Brooks!

We were delighted with the hardwood floor work done by Brooks Pitman and his team. They were able to sand down the existing floors so we could lighten the stain. They also removed carpet from the stairs and 2nd floor landing and replaced it with beautiful hardwoods. Brooks was Responsive to our needs and extremely helpful in our selection of stain and provided great advise based on his extensive experience. Everyone we encountered was hard working and personable. We've already highly recommended Brooks Pitman to our neighbors and friends.
