BROOKSIDE MANOR APARTMENTS

This is an absolutely horrible place to live!! My experience was awful from the very beginning to the endI moved in to my apartment without seeing it first because someone else was living there at the timeTo my surprise, I was lied to about the layout of my apartmentI was told the washer and dryer would be in a closet and not in the kitchenAfter speaking with the office staff they told me there was nothing they could do, so I dealt with itThroughout my time at Brookside, the office staff was rude and very unprofessionalThe maintenance staff was horrible and had no idea what they were doing or how to fix anythingThey would unexpectedly come into your apartment at any timeThere was mold in my apartment that made my wife extremely sickIt was so moldy on the walls and under the carpet there was a damp, mildew odorWe could not take living here anymore and had to move outTwo weeks after we moved out, we received a $bill from Brookside for painting and cleaningThis was "after" our $security deposit had been applied to the billAs ridiculous as this bill was we couldn't wait to be done with this business and paid the bill immediatelyWe paid the bill and it was received and deducted from our account three weeks ahead of the due dateHowever, Brookside sent our account to a collections agency for $I contacted Brookside to determine where the error had occurredAfter speaking with the office manager, they confirmed receipt of my payment well before the due dateI was told it was not their problem to fix and I had to email the "Brookside Collections Department" and also write a letter to the collection agency to dispute the errorI am absolutely baffled at the customer service I received from BrooksideThey took no responsibility for their errorI now have to fight with the collections agency to clear my credit and remove this discrepancy from my credit report, due to no fault of my ownThis is an incredibly terrible place to live and I advise you not to do any business with them

My husband and I were excellent tenants of Brookside Manor in Lansdale PA. After three years, we decided not to renew our lease and we moved out. Two weeks after we moved out we received a bill for painting and cleaning that needed to be completed at our residence. Although the amount of the bill was ridiculously priced at $570 for minor painting and cleaning, we wanted to be done doing business with this company and paid it immediately. The payment was received three weeks before the due date. Despite our prompt payment, Brookside sent our account for $570 to a collection agency. I called Brookside Manor to ask where the miscommunication occurred. After speaking with the office manager, our receipt of payment was confirmed well before the due date. We were told that we had to fix the problem ourselves. They were extremely rude and very unprofessional. For their mistake, WE have each had to email the collections department at Brookside Manor and mail a certified letter to dispute this error to the collection agency this error was reported to. Brookside Manor sent our account to collections in error and after it was brought to their attention we were told it was our problem to fix. Now my husband and I must fight to resolve this discrepancy and clear our credit due to Brookside Manor.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best) this place doesn't even deserve a 1. How likely are you to recommend this to a friend (the survey asks).....I'm not likely to recommend this place to an enemy. Not only is the rent $1000 or more per month, but the office that runs the place is bad. They NEVER answer the phone, there as been 3 total "fire sales" in the time we were there (3 times they fired most of the staff including the Property Manager) and the people they choose to allow in, are just as bad. My last neighbor got evicted to attempting to kill his girlfriend. We woke up to her screaming "help he's trying to kill me!" around 1am followed by this thunderous banging sound that shook the walls.
I do understand that this is not the staffs fault, but it gets worse.
Maintenance is the WORST! They walk into your apartment unannounced breaking any lease terms. Not even to fix things either. There have been NUMEROUS times they came in while I was not home, and "did things" to the unit. How do I know they weren't in there sniffing my GF's panties or stealing something or something crazy like that?! I'm paranoid to h[redacted] every time I leave and honestly had to call out from work on a few occasions due to this.
One time they knocked while I was home. Since I didn't place an order to have anything fixed (and just stepping out of the shower) I didn't know it was them. Don't you know not 5 minutes later the door unlocked and in walked SOMEONE I DO NOT KNOW. This has now totaled 5 times in a year that they have entered without me "knowing". They say that the complex is too big to make calls for notifying about maintenance. Yet they call us to notify us when the pool is open.
They advertise how private, cozy and quiet this place is. then they hang signs near the road of how all dogs are welcome. I personally LOVE dogs. Such great pets. the problem is nobody cares to control their dogs so from about 730am to about 11pm it is nothing but barking. Not to mention, numerous times I've found dog s*-- on the sidewalk.
There have been countless times I've heard people yelling in the parking lot at 1 am on a weekday, there is no parking if you show up past 7pm- there aren't enough parking spots per apartments!
Honestly, all in all this place is THE biggest mistake I've ever made while being out on my own. I have a pending lawsuit because of all of this and some serious trust issues.
Again, I would not recommend this place to a friend, colleague, family member or even an enemy. This has left me with a very bad disposition with Morgan Properties and I truly DO hope that others can learn from MY MISTAKE.
