Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/25) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The property manager told me AND my neighbors that the deck and sod would be done as soon as the ground thawed. The ground thawed by the end of May - we had 80 degree weather for over a week. I remember this clearly AND I HAVE EMAIL DOCUMENTATION between myself and the property manager from the end of May 2014 when I had to contact him because my unit had neither the central air unit that it was suppose to have (no one ever said anything about THAT not being installed before I moved in) nor did I have any screens in my windows - so I couldn't even open windows at night to cool the inside down. In his email response, the property manager said the deck was going in the following week - which would have been the first week of June. The decks were not done until MID JULY. The sod was then put in AFTER THAT - and it was put down by kids who had apparently never put sod in before, because they left 3 inch gaps between some pieces and did not bother to pull up the large number of weeds that had grown in over the 2 and 1/2 months that had passed since the ground had thawed, so about 1/3 of my yard is DEAD GRASS. This company hires CHEAP, INEXPERIENCED labor and then refuses to FIX things when they break or fall apart. Half of the knobs on my cabinets have come off - they used screws that are TOO SHORT (but I'm sure that's because they were CHEAPER). There is STILL dry wall mud on the insides of my doors - because they didn't bother to have the place CLEANED before I moved in (yet they want me to clean it when I move out). The circuit breaker for the basement level keeps tripping - and we have exactly 5 things plugged in on that level - which has a family room, mechanical room, bedroom, and bathroom. 5 items in that much space and the breaker trips regularly?? CHEAP. The next door neighbor has a large dog that is allowed to run loose - against city ordinance. The dog relieves itself in my yard EVERY DAY - and they do not clean it up. When I complained to the property manager, he yells at ME instead of the neighbor. So I haven't been able to actually USE my yard since I moved in. 15 months of extra money I've been paying out in order to have a yard for my kids and pets to use and they haven't been back there ONCE because of the delay in even GETTING a yard, and then because of the neighbor's dog's feces. The front door doesn't have a storm door, so during the winter, snow would blow into the lock and freeze - and freeze the lock. The property manager told me to just have a can of de-icer close by. So, my 11 year old son is suppose to stand outside in the winter elements (Yes, this IS NORTH DAKOTA) and wait for an hour until his older sister gets home or I make a special trip home from work because his key won't work in the frozen lock. Nice. Every time I have brought something to the attention of this property manager he has either yelled at me to "get over it", told me there is just nothing he intends to do about it, or he completely ignores me altogether. This property manager is a SLUM LORD, and Small Claims Court is FINE BY ME.
