There are a lot of events to respond to in a concise reply, but I will try to address all of the perceived issuesThe owner's cat was first seen in August 2015, when an examination revealed the need for an complete dental cleaningThe cleaning was not scheduled and performed until January There were notes about pockets around the tooth in question, but it did not require extraction at that timeNotes were also made regarding the cat's dysphoria upon recovery, which I'm made the subsequent veterinarian use a different anesthetic protocol, which certainly could have made his recovery less traumaticIt is very unprofessional for another veterinary hospital's staff to make comments regarding a patient's health or treatment nearly a year previous, when they were not present to witness anything at that timeDental disease is a progressive condition, and if there was no intervening therapy or treatment, I would also anticipate the need for additional care including the possibility of antibiotic therapy and even additional extractionsI would need to see records and copies of dental radiographs to determine if additional teeth were infected and in need of extractionAlso, it would be quite unusual for an immuno-competent adult cat to have ear mites in only ear, so again, I would like the opportunity to review the veterinarian's records and diagnostics before addressing any additional treatment that may or may not have been requiredThe owner's concern about charges for her dog stem form an incident when the owner's husband brought his dog in for a simple suture removal appointment, but also brought an additional dog and requested that I examine a lump on the dogI hadn't done an exam on that dog for over eleven months, so a brief exam fee was charged, and an estimate was produced for recommended treatmentThe owner was very upset about the fee, considering the brevity of the examIt was explained to the owner that the fee does not reflect the amount of time spent doing the exam, but rather the fee is charged for the doctor's knowledge and expertiseObviously, the owner has decided to seek veterinary care at another animal care facility, and I hope they are happy with their choice in care for their petsI would be happy to refund half of the amount requested but do not feel that there was anything but compassionate, professional, and competent care provided at Broomfield Meadows Animal Hospital

There are a lot of events to respond to in a concise reply, but I will try to address all of the perceived issues. The owner's cat was first seen in August 2015, when an examination revealed the need for an complete dental cleaning. The cleaning was not scheduled and performed until January 2016....

There were notes about pockets around the tooth in question, but it did not require extraction at that time. Notes were also made regarding the cat's dysphoria upon recovery, which I'm made the subsequent veterinarian use a different anesthetic protocol, which certainly could have made his recovery less traumatic. It is very unprofessional for another veterinary hospital's staff to make comments regarding a patient's health or treatment nearly a year previous, when they were not present to witness anything at that time. Dental disease is a progressive condition, and if there was no intervening therapy or treatment, I would also anticipate the need for additional care including the possibility of antibiotic therapy and even additional extractions. I would need to see records and copies of dental radiographs to determine if additional teeth were infected and in need of extraction. Also, it would be quite unusual for an immuno-competent adult cat to have ear mites in only 1 ear, so again, I would like the opportunity to review the veterinarian's records and diagnostics before addressing any additional treatment that may or may not have been required. The owner's concern about charges for her dog stem form an incident when the owner's husband brought his dog in for a simple suture removal appointment, but also brought an additional dog and requested that I examine a lump on the dog. I hadn't done an exam on that dog for over eleven months, so a brief exam fee was charged, and an estimate was produced for recommended treatment. The owner was very upset about the fee, considering the brevity of the exam. It was explained to the owner that the fee does not reflect the amount of time spent doing the exam, but rather the fee is charged for the doctor's knowledge and expertise. Obviously, the owner has decided to seek veterinary care at another animal care facility, and I hope they  are happy with their choice in care for their pets. I would be happy to refund half of the amount requested but do not feel that there was anything but compassionate, professional, and competent care provided at Broomfield Meadows Animal Hospital.
