I am rejecting this response because:The used engine had to be returned because it was defectiveThe company we purchased the engine from confirmed it was bad and refunded us $The same day we received the refund we had to turn around and use the money to purchase yet another used engine from a local parts dealer which costed $I can furnish receipts to confirm this purchaseOur mechanic charged us $in labor to swap these engines, for which I can also furnish receiptsAgain, the dealership has NEVER offered any additional assistance to usI am rejecting this response because this dealer sold us an car with a blown engine in early September and months and nearly 5k later we still do not have a functioning vehicleWe want the dealer to refund us for the cost of the replacement engine

Company states: We sold the vehicle as isWe always tell them to take care of their vehicles and be careful just in caseWe tell them that if you want to bring the car back in, we will take it into a third partyThe third party told us that the engine is blown due to overheatingWe informed the
consumer and he agreed that we will cover the labor and he will cover the cost of the engineThis was completed and the consumer drove away and now they sent us the complaint

Customer still has a remaining balance which was disclosed on his contractAs soon as we were aware of the repairs, we tried to get in contact with the customer, still no responseWe have tried getting in contact with customer numerous times and have yet to hear from himAt this point we are
waiting for the vehicle to be inspected

I am rejecting this response because: I do not want to do business with Brothers auto connection How many times do they have to inspect a vehicle.I only have A.S.E mechanics work on my vehicle. The 99 [redacted] has problems of-Breaks.-air condition not working-Heater has foul order .Tuneup tail gate don't open no spare tire, shock. Front end alignment. The gauges are bouncing around, service engine light on. Brothers auto connection lied to me vehicle was never inspected by any certified mechanic before placement on sales lot.

To whom it may concern,Our company has done it's very best to cooperate with this customer. We have contacted the customer and have offered to pay yet another labor to have the engine taken out and exchanged because the engine is under warranty. Instead this customer declined the offer....

The customer then decided to picket outside of our dealership. Shown in the attatchments is a public notice posted showing that all customers have the right to take the vehicle to a mechanic to have a pre-purchase inspection performed. Also attatched is the AS-IS agreement, and Buyer's guide signed by the customer.  We have done all we can and out of courtesy. We do the very bestwe can to take care of all of our customers.

Business states that they have contacted third party company where engine was purchased. They confirmed that the engine was returned and customer was refunded. At this point business will not and is under no obligation to offer further assistance to the customer. They bought the vehicle as-is, declined the initial offer for assistance, and decided to picket outside of the business.

We appreciate the Revdex.com's help with this matter. To clarify, if this business is interested in reaching an agreeable solution, and allowing us to return the truck for a full refund is not a viable option, we would propose that they reimburse us for the cost of the original replacement engine ($1611.00) and the cost of the labor to have the SECOND replacement engine installed at a reputable, licensed repair shop in our home town of Sacramento, CA.We cannot afford to have the truck towed to Modesto again, and we do not want to work with the shop who installed the initial replacement engine based on our experience there and the difficulties in communicating and with them.

I am rejecting this response because: I would like $1500.00 dollars back. That is a settlement amount for which should be more since the car dealer knowingly misadvised me about the vehicle.  I would not have bought the car if I knew they manually reset the engine light. Signed, [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because this is not an acceptable solution. Again, this business sold us a truck with a shot engine and refuses to refund our money. I did not receive any offer from them to pay the labor on another engine swap. Instead, I received a very unpleasant phone call from the owners wife who threatened to sue me if we pursued our plan to post negative reviews and picket their business. The owner also threatened to "come after us" when we arrived to picket. The only "solution" they would offer was for us to have the truck again towed another 80 miles back to their mechanic in Modesto who would look at it. This is not acceptable. We are completely exasperated by these people and cannot afford, financially or emotionally, to spend another day being jerked around by them. We are currently working with a reputable mechanic in Sacramento who is putting yet another engine into the truck. This will cost us an additional $2,000 in labor and we are still racking up rental car fees. While picketing this business we received countless affirmations by members of the Manteca community who had had similar dealings with this business. We've already accepted that we have to cut our losses, but we will continue to picket in hopes of protecting future would-be victims.

Review: Purchased a 2005 [redacted]. Dealer fraudulently claimed the truck was in great condition. We put significant money down. Upon leaving the lot we noticed a puff of smoke from the exhaust. The exhaust smoke got worse and more frequent over the next week. Took truck to our mechanic who suspected worn valve seals and quoted us $1500 for the repair. I called the dealer who offered to pay half if we towed the truck to their mechanic in Modesto who would do the repair for a lower price. I Had the truck towed to Modesto from Sacramento. Finally got in touch with the dealer several days later only to have him tell us the problem was not the valve seals but that the truck actually had a blown piston ring and the solution was either a complete engine rebuild or replacement. So, the basis of this complaint is that this dealer sold us a truck with a shot engine. We had no other options so we purchased a used motor for $1611 and had it shipped to the mechanic. Dealer promised to pay $600 for the repair - $400 for the labor and $200 reimbursement toward the engine cost, which was not satisfactory but better than nothing. Engine replacement took about a week. We picked the truck up from the mechanic and drove it home to Sacramento. Two days later the check engine light came on and the truck began to idle very roughly and misfire severely. The truck is currently at our mechanic as we wait for a diagnoses. Our mechanic suspects improper install. In summary, we paid over 7k for a truck with a shot engine. The we paid $1600 for a new used engine. Then we racked up several hundred dollars worth of rental car fees while the truck was in repair. Now we will be paying yet even more money to fix whatever install issue is causing the truck's newest set of problems.Dealer refuses to take responsibility for the fact that they sold us a truck with a shot engine.Desired Settlement: I would like the dealer to allow us to return the truck for a full refund of the purchase price, plus the $200 reimbursement for the cost of the replacement engine which was promised and never received.

Review: This dealer sold me a car and did not disclose problems with the car that caused major set backs in income, credit, health, finances and overall livelihood. If they would have disclosed correct information during the sale then I would not have bought the car in the first place. The dealer charged me for repairs on the car. It took 2 months for me to get into the vehicle.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded at least $1,300 for the car repairs ($1000),for my machanic to diagnos it ($200) and taxis to get around to work and Dr appts. Review: I believe this vehicle was sold with known mechanical defficiencies that would have prevented my purchase had I known about them.

I purchased the car on April 13, 2013. Eleven days later the check engine light came on. My father is a mechanic with an onboard device, the cars codes revealed defficiencies that had been recently cleared. Including that the car had an electrical distribution box that was bad. It was melted. The catalytic converter was working below efficiency. I had to replace the cracked serpentine belt 3 days after purchase. I replaced the electrical distribution box only for it to melt a second time and now the car is undriveable.I have had to have the car towed home twice and which is now sitting in my driveway undriveable. I have emailed and spoken directly with the dealership on more than one occasion and they have offered no suggestions or solutions becauase I had signed a as is no warranty paper. I understand they may not be liable because of this but I believe they were aware of the problem and eithered covered the problems for sale or the mechanical staff was incompetent. Also,I noticed that the paperwork had the incorrect address, I should have double checked before signature but I did notify Hoodah twice and gave her the proper address. In June I called and spoke to Hoodah and asked her where my registration was, she told me the DMV was behind. In June I called the DMV, they were not behind, the smog certificate wasn't given to the DMV. I received a copy of the smog, and notified Hoodah again that the address was incorrect. I was told that this would be fixed.

I received a phonecall from Hoodah stating that she sent me my registration but that it came back to her dealership because she didn't have my correct address, which is odd because I have given it to her company 3 times already. I received the registration in the mail, it has the wrong address and wrong lienholder. I called the dealership and notified Hoodah of this and was told that they would correct the lien holder and that when I go online I can correct the address to pay for my registration for this year.

There are several small problems with the car also such as broken glove box, broken center console, damaged stereo, this list could go on for days, the small interior things I could overlook, the obvious mechanical defficiencies are unsafe and should not have been sold in this condition.

Hoodah kindly offered to send me to VW at my cost, she even called the mechanic, and said she would set up an appointment and would call me, she never did, and the gentleman she mentioned doesn't work there, I was never able to speak to him. VW corporation referred me to the same dealership and just to have my car looked at would be $120+ and I would have to pay for it to be towed to the dealership.

I just bought this car a few months ago this is ridiculous.

I put a down payment of $3200 and have been making payments on this car and full coverage insurance just so it can sit in my driveway and collect dust. I have had to pay for parts that should have been replaced before the vehicle was sold. I have had to pay for towing twice just so I could get home from work.

There may be no legal precedence for my complaint in regards to my complaint since I did sign the as is, however I feel that I was sold a mechanically deficient vehicle and the problems with the paperwork that took me over four months to receive and with incorrect information when the proper information was provided shows that there is some inproper business practices being conducted and I wanted to report this in order to prevent others from suffering the way I have.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my money back so that I can invest in a more reliable car with another dealership. I have no trust in this business that a replacement from their lot would be reliable and I feel their business practice and ethics are questionable. I am unsure of the vehicle's reliability even if it was repaired, there is obviously a serious problem with the vehicle and I don't trust the dealership, their mechanics, or the vehicle. I know that this requet will probably not be suitable and as I have said the as is no warranty signature pretty much voids any requests in regards to how I would prefer this is resolved. At least if I put this information out there I may save someone else from my experience.

Initial Business Response

Hello,

This is in regards to case XXXXXXXX. We have contacted the customer, and let her know

that she can take the vehicle to one of our trusted mechanics. She told us she would go ahead,

and take the vehicle to the mechanic when the funds became available for her.

This was the last conversation made between the customer and our establishment.

We have also resolved the issue with the DMV.

Sincerely,

Sales at Brothers Auto Connection Inc.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

The company did contact me and offered to send me to a trusted mechanic, but as I stated in the original complaint, their mechanics overlooked or ignored the problem originally so I didn't feel comfortable and I also didn't feel that I should have to pay for anything and I didn't have money to do so and I still don't, the car is still parked at my house undriveable. Also they only straightened out putting the coreect lien holder on the car with the dmv. I had to go to the dmv to change the address, which I could not do online because of the problem they created. Which means I had to take time from work and go to the dmv and wait for a while to correct their mistake. I am not satified with their respnonse, however I no longer want to deal with them. I am okay with the case being closed. The car dealership continually claims to not receive phonecalls or emails until weeks later, when I do speak to them they try and put all of the responsibility on me and I just don't want the hassle of dealing with them anymore. They avoid, look how long it took them to respond to the Revdex.com. I would rather just leave the whole thing behind me. I just know that in the future to not buy a car from their dealership.

Review: Purchased used vehicle that had serious safety issue that dealer has refused to help cover the cost of repair.

Purchased a 2005 Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor on 7/29/2013 from Brothers Auto Connection in Manteca, CA. Purchase price agreed upon was $13,750. Vehicle was purchased with an "AS IS" warranty. The following day, 7/30/2013, I noticed the driver's side front tire was flat. I inflated the tire back to 32 psi. The following day, again, the driver's side front tire was flat. I removed the wheel looking for protrusions and discovered a 2-3" long, 1/16" fissure in the wheel itself that was causing the tire to deflate. The damage to the wheel was a completely unsafe condition that should have rendered the vehicle unsafe until properly repaired. I took the wheel to a wheel reapir specialist who in turn, charged $185 to repair the wheel. I called Brothers Auto Connection on 8/2/2013 and explained the situation to [redacted] and asked if Brothers would be willing to help cover the cost of the repair. [redacted] assured me he would relay the message to the owner but that the owner would most likely not be covering such a repair. Have not recieved a return phone call regarding the matter and consider the lack of response and lack of willingness to help a serious customer service issue. Desired Settlement: Merely seeking full compensation in the amount of the cost of the repair of $185.

Business

Response:

Consumer's Final Response

The business has responded by compensating me for half of the cost of the repair. I will now consider the case closed. Thank you.
