Brother's Transmissions Reviews (1)

Review: In May of 2013 I took in my 2006 VW Passat to Brother's Transmissions to be looked over because it had broken down. Within a week the mechanic gave me a diagnostic stating the transmission was out and a used transmission would cost $1700. I immediately paid the 1700 and checked back within 2 weeks to find no work had been completed on the car. In June after calling 3 times he notified me he was changing locations we also discussed a more economical way of fixing the car which would require him rebuilding the transmissions which would ensure that everything was new on the car. After a month I contacted him regarding the car and there was still no progress because his building was not up to code and the city would not allow him to work on cars. This went on for 3 months, in which time I decided it would also be better to rebuild the transmission which he agreed upon as well. I repeatedly called and made visits where he would frequently say he would have the car completed in the next week. In Oct of 2013 he had already taken out and rebuilt the transmission and placed it back into the car however the car was still having the same issue. He asked my son to do some research to find out what could be wrong and we went back and forth for several months before he decided the problem had to do with an electrical sensor. I asked if I could bring in a mechanic who specialized in this area and he refused to allow another mechanic on the property. He further stated the agreement and money paid to fix the car would be voided if I took it to another mechanic to have it assessed and I wouldn't receive any money back. From then until now he repeatedly states he found the problem every week yet nothing is done. Recently I told him if I could just get my money back because I really need my car and it has been to long without any work completed. He stated he would deduct money for parts he initially bought for the car because they would serve no purpose to him.Desired Settlement: I should receive compensation for the cost of my car payments which were 350 (May-Now) $4550. I paid insurance for 6 months until I fell behind which totaled $522. I had to place my car under non-opp in order to not incur any more fees and the car requires new tires from not being moved in so long. Since I could not work I fell behind on bills. I feel that I should be compensated a minimum of $5000 so that I may get back on good standing with my car payments and get my car working.
