12.8000001907349px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;">This is a statement from Browder's Towing & Service Center, Inc. regarding case number#[redacted].  The customer did come suspecting a transmission leak and we informed her that the transmission was bent and the oil pan was cracked because she had ran the car up on something.  When we quoted her a price for a new transmission pan and oil pan and the labor, she did not want to pay the price and asked if there was anything we could do for her without incurring those fees.  We told her we could unbend the pan and put transmission fluid in and she was fine with the price of $274.15 because she said it was a lot better than paying for new pans.  We test drove and there were no leaks.  The following week, she came by and asked for another printout of the bill because she could not read it.  She did not inform us that there was any issues with her car at that time, only that she needed another copy of her bill.  This is our first time hearing of an issue, however, we did what she instructed us to do and the fluid was being held properly in the pan.

I was never quoted a price.  They just said they could try straightening out the pans. Are they trying to tell me they knew And I agree that I should be charged for fluid and labor; however, I still dispute that it took two hours, since I did call back in an hour, and I was advised that the work was complete.  Also I do not understand how I am charged for tools that they use to complete the work.  I was never told that the tools that they use was in addition to labor.  I was also charged a separate fee for labor and a fee for them to check for a leak.  I do not think that two separate fees for labor is reasonable. Regards,[redacted]

Revdex.com spoke with Ms. [redacted] the customer's price was quoted over the phone and work would not have been done without authorization. When the customer asked for another copy of the bill she did not have an issue at the time. The business was not aware of any concerns with the price until the complaint was processed. They would have been happy to explain any issue she might have had with the breakdown of the bill.

Review: I took my car to Browder because I suspected a transmission leak. The business reported that my car had a hole in the oil pan and the transmission pan was crushed. The price quoted to replace both new was $900+ and to weld the hole in the oil pan and replace the transmission pan would be $700+. I told them not to do anything, because the transmission had not been shifting, and I didn't want to do work that wouldn't help. Then Jeff said that he did not know that, & continued to say he could try to unbend the transmission pan and fill the car with fluid and test drive it to see if it would shift. He said that he thought that no fluid could get into the filter because the pan was crushed. He did not give me a quote and I said ok. Then I called right back & said don't do anything because I didn't want them even test driving it if that wasn't it and tear up things more, per advice from a co-worker. Jeff said they think that was definitely the problem, assured me that it would hold the transmission fluid, and he would not drive it if he did not think it would work. I initially called back in an hour they said it was done, but they had not driven it. When I called later they said it worked & the car shifted fine. I astonished when he said $274.15 when he had never quoted me a price. I assumed it would be around $110 to cover an average hourly cost of $80 & $30 for the fluid. The receipt shows $50 to check for transmission leak, $140 for 2 hours of labor to remove & straighten oil pan, but it should have been the transmission pan, $23 for a gasket, $12.95 for sealer, $36.69 for the transmission fluid, and $7.88 for shop supplies. This took place on 5/7/15, the car broke down again on 5/9/15. The car would not shift because it did not have transmission fluid. I had another mechanic examine the car and he said that you can not unbend transmission pans and that you have to replace it, and he assumes that there is a hole in the transmission pan as well.Desired Settlement: I would like for my credit card to be refunded $274.15 to my credit card because they never quoted me a price, they did not fix the problem, and the things they charged me for per the receipt are erroneous. They charged $50 to check for a leak, separate from their hourly rate. I followed up an hour later (not two hours later) and they said it was done, but not driven. They never mentioned a gasket or sealer, and I have no idea what "shop supplies" mean. Why would that not be covered under their hourly rate. And the two hours of labor they charged me for says "Fluid pan removed and straightened 4 speed oil pan". My car is not a 4 speed, "fluid pan" could mean anything, and then they state "oil pan"
