Review: We have been using this dentist for a few years, they are great and we have never had any issues. The last visit, we arrived and they took my family of 4 back to get our normal cleaning. No issues, we received a bill a few days ago for 540.00 I called and asked what it was for and they explained to me that our insurance changed and it was also an our of network provider. I had insurance (pediatric only) for my kids, but my wife did not even have it anymore. I was covered due to different insurance than my family. I told them I was unaware of this insurance issue and they told me that it was my responsibility to make sure they were a covered provider and that they don't check for insurance until it is submitted. I understand that I should have said something but They could have told me this before taking us back to have us serviced. If I would have known this I would have cancelled and went to a different provider that accepted the insurance. They never asked us for insurance info due to us going there before. I asked them if they could help us out at all and they said "No" it is not their problem and we received the service and we had to pay the amount owed or it would go to collectionsDesired Settlement: We paid the bill the other day. It would be nice to have it taken care of since it was just a routine visit for yearly cleaning and nothing out of ordinary was done to any of the 4 of us that received the dentist treatment. I don't want to see this happen to other patients here, I believe that they should have informed us that insurance would not have been covered before the visit before we received this treatment and a huge bill for it

In regards to the above-mentioned claim, we have, as you can glean from the details, a person who wasunaware of their personal dental coverage. As a result, he somehow feels that the treatment renderedto him and his family should therefore be free! The patient admits that he in fact paid the bill in full, butstates that he "believe(d) that they should have informed us that the insurance would not have coveredbefore the visit...", (which is not our responsibility),and is upset that his balance will not therefore bewaived.As a courtesy to our patients, we submit their insurance claims for them. This courtesy, however, in noway implies that we have any relationship with their insurance company, nor to the patient in thisregard. We will accept what the policy will pay, and the patient is responsible for the balance (co-pay)ofthe bill. If the insurance policy pays zero for the treatments, whatever the reason, then the patient isultimately responsible for the entire balance, just as any other patient would be.I hope that this is an adequate response to this frivolous complaint.Best regards,Stephen J Brown DDS, JD

Thank you for reaching out, I was not trying to receive the service for free as they responded with. When you receive a service, they should let the customer know what is covered and what is not. We would have went to another provider if we knew that our insurance was not covered. Thank youI have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
