To whom it may concern:The customer towed her car into my shop after calling me for a quote for a usedtransmission replacement in her Volvo V70XCWe priced out getting her a usedtransmission as to her requestShe was not interested in a rebuilt transmissionShe told me itwouldn't move and
she was scared to try and drive it inAlter it was towed in, we noticed thecheck engine light was on and we scanned for codesThere was a ptransmission faultcode stored in the computerWe tried to drive the car through the parking lot but decided that thetransmission was slipping too much to try and drive on the road safelySt1e stated that shecouldn't afford to pay for the transmission replacement at that timeI let her know it was ok topay a deposit so I could get the used transmission here and start replacing ii while she came upwith the rest of the moneyShe agreed and gave me a $deposit a few days laterWe thenordered the used transmissionApproximately weeks after that she called and informed us shehad the rest of the moneyWe then installed a used transmission in her carWe discoveredother issues with the customer's vehicle and called her to discuss them The issues she agreedto let us fix were as followed: the timing belt in which was very cracked; the water pump thatwas leaking coolant; an inner tie rod that was loose; an axle shaft that had torn c.vjoint boots;and some sealsThese repairs were done at a discounted price since we already had the carapartWe also had the front end aligned per her okayWe then found that the used transmissionwe had ordered for her vehicle wasn't much better than the originalWe removed it and installeda second used transmission for her at no additional chargeWe test drove it and found thetransmission to work but not correctlyThe car ran and drove fine otherwiseThe transmissionjust didn't shift from gear to gear smoothlyWe then called some transmission shops and cameto the conclusion that the computer needed an updateWe advised her to get the computerupdated and asked her to then let us know how it workedI also warned her not to drive itanymore than neededShe paid the remainder of her bill of $and she then drove away inthe vehicleShe called me back a couple of weeks later and informed me the other shop said thecomputer was already updated but the transmission wasn'tShe also said they wanted $tofix the transmissionI called the other shop that quoted her this price to confirm this information.The gentleman told me that if I removed the valve body and brought ii to their shop they wouldupdate it for $395. He said he would also sell me a Bservo that was also required to completethe jobI called the customer and explained this information to her and I asked her to bring itback so we could help her take care of the problemsI told her it would cost an extra $tocover the $and what ever the cost of the servo was even though I wasn't told that priceby the other shopShe told me she was going to check her work schedule and let me knowwhen she would be able to bring the vehicle back in so I couldresearch what the other shop was sayingThe second used transmission we used came out ofa Volvo. I then found out that she chose to take the car somewhere else to have the repairwork done that I was offering to help her withIn order for us to warranty the work we did she isrequired to come back to usThe warranty we offer on all of our labor and the parts we use is 12months or 12,milesThis covers only the repairs we completed but does not cover anything
