[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: .  I may be old but I am not stupid enough to agree to pay some one $100 for an ESTIMATE for a broken air conditioner.  I was quoted
$30 to come out and $70 an hour for any LABOR.  BRUCE (he does not have his last name on any paper work), should make it clear that includes borrowing a ladder and light and looking at unit to say it needed a new motor is considered labor.
Also, I find his response aggressive.  To say I should have called the police makes me wonder 'should I?" ....   His comments about my house and dog made me feel uncomfortable, but we were in the garage so I just wanted him off my property.  He 'gossiped' about the neighbors and how he 'tricked' the gas company into putting his lines in for free.  I just had a bad feeling ... not enough at that point to call the police but enough that I did not trust him.
DOES ANY ONE PAY $100 for an ESTIMATE!!!!!  ....   I knew the motor was 'shot' ... I just wanted a second opinion on repair..  I don't know how a person can take advantage of older woman at home alone by charging
$100 for an estimate.  ...   BRUCE ??? phone call was clear cut ... $30 for the house visit .... $70 an hour for any labor ...    He insisted that borrowing my ladder and light to look at motor (that I already told him was broken) ... and again
he was on my property for 12 minutes... (I had some one else at home leaving when he arrived and my elderly mom pulled up as he was leaving so I have the proof of times).  In that time BRUCE ?  wasted my time talking about his cheating the gas company into putting free lines in, our neighbors 'gas' stories and that he know all about my house, etc.   He was unprofessional and intimating ... and it is the only reason I gave him a check.  I am persuing this because I dont want senior citizens and women to be taken advantage of my 'tricky' language.
Also I did tell BRUCE? that his AD in the [redacted] Phone Book states FREE ESTIMATES on the first line...  he said it was probably a mistake by phone book and he was not aware.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:It is not true. Bruce told me he charged $30 for coming to home. He said he charged $70 for any labor.  No labor was preformed. I wrote check out of fear. I am a female home alone and 2 men in my garage.  When Bruce arrived he immediately told me he had been in my home before I bought it.  He is a big man and I felt intimated to write check. He also asked about my dogs. He was too inquisitive and it made me nervous. He only looked at unit and was at my home for less then 12 minutes no labor was preformed.., and Bruce handed me bill. I was very emotional about the charge of $70. I told him I understand charging $30 to give estimate. I was shocked when he had bill for $100! His claim of $100 is a complete lie! If he has any bit of decency he knows he quoted $30 for house call and $70 for any labor.
I am bringing this case because I can imagine how many others he intimated. I look forward to your help!

I told [redacted] it was thirty dollars to come out and seventy dollars per hour on the phone, as I stated previously. Secondly, my technician [redacted] was in the vehicle when [redacted] wrote the check and signed the invoice that she was alright with the charges. Lastly, if I intimated her in anyway why didn’t she call the police?Regards,

Review: I called Bruce's Commercial Refrigeration to look at my central air conditioner. Bruce ? stated the cost would be $30 to come out to look at unit and $70 for any labor.

Bruce ? arrived late. I explained air condition motor didn't seem to be running. He sent a helper up the ladder to the attic crawl space (he asked to borrow a light).

They brought no tools with them. In less then 2 minutes the young man shouted down... 'yep, the motor is shot'. He came down the ladder and BRUCE ?

handed me a bill for $100. I asked what the additional $70 was for. He claims LABOR. I stated that nothing was done and he was less then 5 minutes. He looked at unit.

BRUCE claims that is labor. He has an AD in the [redacted] phone book ... right under his headline it states ... FREE ESTIMATESDesired Settlement: I would like the $70 returned since there was no labor involved

I TOLD HER SHE WOULD NEED A NEW ONE. I MADE OUT THE INVOICE AND SHE WROTE A CHECK.WE DISCUSWED THE NEW MOTOR AND SHE ASKED IF THE LABOR CHARGE WOULD BE DEDUCTED FROM THt NEW INVOICE. I TOLD HER THIS INVOICE WAS FOR THIS TRIP, BUT I COULD DO THE MOTOR RELACEMENT WITHOUT ANOTHER TRIP CHARGE. SHE WAS UPSET ABOUT THE 570.00 LABOR CHARGE, BUT WE WERE 2 PEOPLE AND USUALLY GET $70.00 FOR EACH PERSON ON A JOB.
