Bruni & Campisi Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Reviews (3)

I had been using Bruni and Campisi for a few years and did not have any major issues. This summer one of my central A/C units (which was only 2 years old) was not working. Because B&C had installed it, I went to them for the repairs. First, it was a long delay to get them out to fix it. I described the problem in detail, they performed a service call ($200) to tell me they though there was a leak in the system but they could not tell where because they did not bring the correct equipment to diagnose the problem. I, rather stupidly, kept pursuing a fix with them. Another delay and another appointment, and they happily diagnosed (or claimed to) a coil leak for another $200. The coil was supposed to be under warranty because the unit was so new. I had to call no less than five times to get the coil re-ordered in order to have the unit fixed. It was the same story each time- they would call me when the part had arrived... yet a few days would go by without hearing from them so I would call and they would tell me the part hadn't been ordered. Finally, they came out to repair the unit. They told me prior to the repair it would be approx $500 in labor to fix the leak and the parts were covered. Well, I should have gotten that in writing because they came out and supposedly fixed the leak, and charged me $2,000. Specifically they charged me for labor for two men but ONE PERSON was at my house the whole time. I tried to address the issue multiple times with B&C and they obviously had no interest in doing 'the right thing' nor keeping my business. The worst is that just a few weeks later I had routine service on the a/c unit and found out they B&C had never properly fixed the unit, the leak was still present, and the service calls/ tune ups I had been getting from B&C for the past few years were not done properly and multiple lines were clogged on my very new system. I highly advise again using B&C. I truly feel like they scammed me out of many thousands of dollars.

I called these guys regarding repairing a faucet and worst case replacing it. I was quoted on the phone for worse case of about $500. The plumber arrived with a SINGLE tool in his hand. He said he needed to see what he needs. He could not get a nut loose with this adjustable wrench and went to the truck only to return with another couple of tools rather than the usual tool case. He forced and pried at the pipe until it actually broke. So now I'm at the worst case scenario, during the install he again goes to the truck two more times. Each time he went to the truck, it would seem like he was taking a break/nap in his truck. So when the job was finished, it took a lot longer than it should have taken (I'm paying for the time). But then when I inspected it, the spout was sticking out of the wall about 2 inches too far, so I told him to re-do it. In the end, when the job was done, he handed me a bill for over $1300... said there was charges for this and that (inspection, permit, misc parts, etc), basically a ton of hidden charges that were never provided in the quote. I basically had to argue with the company over several weeks (they never return calls) to bring the cost down from a crazy amount to only an outrageous amount. Improper work, slow, hidden charges...avoid this company at all costs.

Review: In 2012 [redacted] & [redacted] estimated $2400 to repair an air handler. However, it took two technicians two hours or so to[redacted]plete the job, and so I asked for a breakdown of time and parts before paying the invoice. The[redacted]pany has refused this reasonable request on multiple occasions. However, I paid $1500 earlier this year in a good faith effort to resolve the dispute, and ask them to stop sending bills to me for the balance. They refused. I would never use them again. I am stunned that this is how they would treat a loyal customer of over 15 years who has given them 10s of thousands of dollars of business.Desired Settlement: I would like to them to stop contacting me. In any case, if they think a balance is owed, I would like to see a breakdown of time and parts as I have repeated requested.

Response:

To Whom it May Concern,

We are in receipt of your correspondence dated 9/**/2013 in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. Unfortunately this is the first our management team has been made aware of this customer's complaint. Upon reviewing our records, we have determined a number of points outlined in this document.

[redacted] contacted Bruni & Campisi to diagnose the problem with his air handler nearly over a year ago in August of 2012. Our technician determined there was a leak in the coil which was beyond repair. We then dispatched a salesperson to provide [redacted] a quote to replace the whole air handler. This proposal was initially found to be acceptable and we collected a deposit for this work in the form of a check. The check was later voided at [redacted]'s request as he opted instead to replace only the faulty coil in lieu of replacing the entire air handler unit. [redacted] was given a price of $2295 to provide and install his new coil. The price extended to [redacted] was a flat rate price based on similar jobs we had completed in the past. [redacted] was made aware of the cost and approved it as the coil was indeed provided and installed by Bruni & Campisi.

Though we will make an effort to resolve this issue, it is our position that our pricing is fair and [redacted] approved the costs associated with installing a new coil or else work would never had commenced. It is unfortunate his complaint failed to reach our management team though we find it concerning [redacted] waited more than a year to file his complaint with the Revdex.com and write a poor review about our company on [redacted].

We will gladly contact [redacted] and provide the breakdown he requests in order to resolve this issue.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved because Bruni has agreed finally to send me the information I requested. . I say this with the qualification that (i) I did in fact speak with [redacted] directly and others regarding my complaint on various occasions, and in fact left [redacted] several messages to call me back, all without response, so I am not sure why Bruni's management claims they were unaware; and (2) I tried to be fair by sending a letter advising Bruni that I would in fact file this complaint and write a negative review if I continued to receive invoices, and only did so after receipt of a subsequent invoice. If [redacted] or someone else would have called and attempted to work it out with me, instead of just ignoring me-- I have always been reasonable- none of this would have happened.

Sincerely,

+1
