Response to Complaint #*** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** **Mr*** *** has a home warranty contract with *** *** *** We are contracted with *** *** *** as a HVAC Contractor. Our company, Brunswick Building Services, received a work order from *** *** *** on 7/25/2016, for an air conditioning complaint, for an income property owned by Mr*** *** located at ** *** *** *** ** We made an appointment with the tenant and *** *** went to the residence and diagnosed the issue. As per policy, *** then called *** *** *** and provided the diagnosis and suggestions to repair the unit *** suggested that the air conditioning system be replaced entirely due to age and condition. *** *** *** declined to authorize the replacement of the entire unit and instead wanted to replace the compressor After *** *** *** researched the cost of the compressor, they opted to replace the entire unit as it was less costly. *** *** *** ordered the compressor and *** researched and ordered the evaporator coil It was difficult to find a coil that would work with this unit as the original coil had been discontinued A coil was found and ordereded Mr***'s contract with *** *** *** does not cover duct modifications or access charges Duct modifications are almost always necessary when installing new parts to an existing system There are often large size differences that need to be accommodated On August 10, 2016, *** *** *** informed Mr*** that his portion of the cost for uncovered charges was $ Of the $650.00, $was an access charge The unit was housed in the attic of this home, which is not easily accessible The attic is accessible thru a small hatch in a bedroom closet with a ladder The hatch is barely large enough for a person to get thru. Ultimately, the living room air vent in the side wall near the cathedral ceiling was removed and the duct work attached to it was disconnected The a/c unit was then lifted thru the vent opening into the attic.Mr*** contacted *** ***, owner of Brunswick Building Services and complained of the cost prior to the installation It was agreed to by Mr*** and Mr*** that depending on the difficulty of getting the unit into the attic, the $may be waived but that this would not be known until the day of installation Mr*** stated that he would drive up from his home in South Carolina and put the unit in the attic himselfThis was not a reasonable remedy due to liability issues should the unit be damaged while Mr*** attempted to get it into the attic Brunswick Building Services would be responsible for any damages to the unit prior to installation.Mr*** ultimately decided to waive the $access fee as a courtesy to Mr*** The remaining $was due and owing upon completion of the installation This has not been paid to date. The tenant living in the unit did not suffer "hardship" due to the heat as she had window air conditioners which were operational during the time it took to arrange installation She actually was kind enough to leave them running and communicated to the technicians that she was leaving it on for them so they would be comfortable during installation.Installation schedules are dependent upon when the units arrive and what other work has been scheduled Brunswick Building Services is a small company and does not have the staff to schedule more than one installation per day Unfortunately, due to time delays regarding *** *** ***'s authorization, finding an evaporator coil that would work with this unit and working with the tenant and our schedule, the installation took more time than was expected or desirable It would appear that Mr*** is trying to use the services of the Revdex.com to attempt to escape his responsibility of paying his portion of the bill We will take legal action against Mr*** to recover our expenses. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.Thank you,Brunswick Building Services*** ***, OwnerSent from Outlook

Revdex.com spoke to business and the following was relayed: Work was done through home warranty company. They needed furnace put in, they waited a year. When we installed the furnace the husband had taken out all the ducts, carpeted over all the grates. He wanted a quote to to the duct work and did not...

like the quote. He took all the venting out, which is what the complaint is about. We were the subcontractor and did everything we were contracted for, the unit was installed per code. We even had to put in a new gas line, which we did and did not charge the customer for which was a $500 value.

The [redacted] have a home warranty contract.  This is an insurance policy which covers
certain items in their home should they need repair or replacement.  The contract is very specific as to what
items are paid for and which items are not.  Brunswick Building Services is contracted by the home warranty company
to provide repairs/replacements. Over a year before the [redacted] decided to go forward with
their furnace replacement, Brunswick Building Services went to their home and
reported back to the home warranty service that their furnace was in need of
replacement.  We provided a quote to the
warranty company and of my quote, $700.00 was not covered by the customers
policy.  The customer was offered a “cash
out” or a replacement of which they would be responsible for the $700.00 in
uncovered charges.  This price did not
change in the year I waited to perform the work.  Although, had I known that the home owner had
made numerous changes to the system during the year, I would have raised the
original price.  The home owners removed
the duct work, disconnected the venting and removed the entire gas line.  The duct work vents were all covered over by
new flooring that was installed during the “renovations” which took place
during this year that they could not afford to have the furnace replaced. The $700.00 as I wrote in one of my texts, covered duct work
transitions due to the fact that the old unit was larger than the new unit,
venting connections, gas line modifications to connect the new unit to the
existing gas line (which was gone when I arrived to do the installation) and
removal and disposal of the old unit.  We
had to replace the entire gas line due to it being removed-this is something
that typically I would have charged $500.00 for alone. The labor costs for the installation of the unit were covered
by the home warrantly company and the furnace was provided by the home warranty
company.  The labor and part costs to
perform all modifications were not covered by the warranty company.  Modifications including labor to perform them
are NOT covered in the customers policy.   The customer was well aware of this charge
and it was agreed to over a year before the work was completed.  If he had not agreed to it, the warranty
company would have offered him a “cash out” and he could have hired whomever to
do the replacement.  The condensate pump is “spliced” into the unit which is
exactly how it is supposed to be installed.  This “wiring” of this had nothing to do with the unit or the warranty.  It was the installation of the pump which is
necessary to evacuate excess water as this is a high efficiency unit and as a
result produces condensate which needs to be removed.  My guess is that if the customer actually did
call the manufacturer he did not know what he was describing to them and that
is why he received the answer he did. The venting and intake appeared fine.  I did not install either of them, I connected
to them.   If there is an issue with them
that has nothing to do with the work I performed as they were pre existing and
not part of what I was contracted to do.  I performed the services that I was contracted to do.  The customer complained about having to pay his
portion of the cost to myself as well as the warranty company.  He has received the same answers from myself
and the warranty company.  The customer
does not get to decide what I charge for my labor, parts etc. however, if it
was something he did not want to pay, he had over a year to make different
arrangements.  Waiting until after the
unit is installed and the work performed, it ridiculous.

I was sent a text saying he wanted $400.00 The frustrations to my tenants and myself far exceed the $400.00 amount. On the hotter days the tenants relocated and had someone watch the pet. They also had to take time off of work as we could not get any response back for me to be there to gain him...

access.

I have talked to HVAC contractors and they are telling me 7-10 days to replace an existing AC unit with new. 38 days it took to have mine installed. After 3 weeks of waiting my tenant had a friend put one small window unit in her bedroom. The rest of the entire unit including the other tenant in the unit had nothing. Not sure how Brunswick Building Services can make the judgement that the tenants did not suffer any hardships. Both of my tenants have a much different evaluation of the situation to share. Also I am not using Revdex.com to escape my responsibilities. I would just like others out there to know how I was treated. [redacted]
