Bryan Animal Hospital Reviews (2)

April 20, 2015To Whom It May Concern, First of all I would again like to express our condolences to this client for the passing ofher dog. However, I also need to say that our kennel was in no way negligent for his death. We did not withhold medical
attention or ignore the dog and his needs. When the owner first dropped the dog off, our kennel manager (who is excellent) noticed thathe was a bit pot bellied and assumed that he had been overfed. Since the owner made no mention of any physicalproblems or conditions, our manager thought he was in good health. During his two week stay, he ate and dranknormally. We chart if any of our kennel guests are not eating and drinking and this guest only skipped one meal duringhis two week stay with us. Also, during his time with us he was actively going outside, had bowel movements andwas otherwise calm On the morning he was to be picked up our kennel manager discovered upon arrival that he haddiarrhea overnight and that he didn’t have an interest in going outside. The owner came in a bit after 8:AM to pickup her two dogs. Our kennel manager advised her that one of her dogs had had diarrhea the previous night and seemedlethargic. The owner said that the two week stay was probably hard on him and that he missed her. Our manager went to kennel and got the dogthat wasn’t feeling well first and brought him to owner before returning to kennel to get second dog. At no timebefore owner left our clinic did she say that her dog looked bloated or that she had any other concerns about her dogs’ condition. We have doctors on site and we would gladly have checked out the dog that had had diarrhea but we were not asked. The owner left pleasantly and without incident. If the dog looked dramatically different, then why didn’t the owner say anything? To our kennel employees, the dog looked thesame from the day he came in until the morning he left, except for the fact that he had little energy and had had diarrhea on his last day If the owner had not come in early to pick up, our kennel manager would have had myself or one of the other veterinariansexamine him. But, because his symptoms began just hours before he left our facility we did not have this opportunity. Again, we are sorry this owner lost her dog but our kennel is not to blame. We have been operating this kennel for 11years and incidents like this are extremely rare. That being said, we fully understand the heartbreak of losing a pet and that having it occur just after returning from being away perhaps exacerbates emotions. I am a veterinarian because I love animals and have dedicated my life tohelping them. The last thing I would ever want to do is put an animal in danger but I know our kennel was not negligentin any way with this particular owner/pet.Sincerely,Dr*** ***Owner/Head VeterinarianBryan Animal Hospital and KennelTell us why here

Review: I boarded my two small dogs at Bryan Animal Hospital kennel, from [redacted] When I picked them up early am on [redacted], the employee said that one of them "had a little diahrea and just wanted to rest in his bed yesterday. He probably just missed his home." When she brought my dogs out to the waiting area, I was shocked at the appearance of my mini [redacted] mix, [redacted]. He is a small dog and he looked like he swallowed a soccer ball. He was listless.

I rushed him to my vet who said his abdomen was completely filled with fluid. [redacted] was in such pain that the recommendation was to euthanize him. There wasn't a hope for recovery. He also had terrible liquid diahrea and was dehydrated!!!

For how many days was my small dog laying and suffering, not drinking nor eating, with a grotesquely swelled abdomen? He didn't enter that kennel looking like that!!

Why didn't they call me whe they noticed the dogs condition? Or didn't they have enough sense or didn't care for the dogs adequately in order to ascertain that the dog was gravely ill?

What happened to my dog? All I recieved from the kennel manger was a "condolences call." No offer to refund my money for what was horribly inadequate care.

They shouldn't be allowed to operate a kennel.Desired Settlement: That the Byran Animal Hospital Kennel have its license revoked, in addition to refunding the $639.86 I had to pay for the their "boarding care."
