the vehicle in question is a mid 70's ford pinto wagon. we installed his aftermarket header in place of the stock manifold. and he requested oversized pies and a muffler. the price quoted was $175 for header and $150 for exhaust pipe and...

muffler. I told him we would do as package deal for $300. work was done customer left happy. due to wear on shocks springs and bushings a rough running engine and over size pipe combination. his car developed a rattle I offered to replace pipe w smaller pipe. customer declined so after some adjusting we was able to get more clearance. customer leaves and returns w wife demanding refund. I offered again to repair with factory size and customer wife replied u will not touch the car again we came back for our money. I offered the refund of $150 for the pipe and muffler and recommend them to bring our materials back and I would refund the amount of $150 back on the credit card it was purchased on. they demanded cash. I declined to pay cash back. they left.

None of this is true. I left unhappy and had to wait until the business opened the next morning to complain. The car never rattled or shook with the old muffler and the request was for a "better exhaust" not an ill-fitted one. It was up to the business' discretion to install the proper parts, and I even questioned whether the exhaust they were installing would work well. They said it "should be fine" and it clearly was not. When I approached them about fixing their mistake or getting a refund they changed my quote to $175. It was originally quoted at $75 to install the header that I brought in, and since they refused to refund me for the header work that leaves $225 owed to me. They deliberately changed the quote to keep most of my money for their awful job. They are dishonest and disrespectful by refusing to honor the original quoted price, and I did let them try to fix their job five times, but each time the rattle or shake would change in cadence but not go away. They blamed the noise on my car instead of their poor work, but if it were my car it would have done that before taking it to them, and the noise would not have been affected by their multiple attempts to "fix" the problem. I demanded that they replace the entire job from scratch for me since they did such a poor job, and they refused, saying they would only rip out their exhaust and let me drive off without an exhaust. They didn't even offer to put in the old one, and when we asked they said we'd owe them labor for that work. We refused and my wife demanded a full refund, which was denied.

Customer went to Sheldon's Custom Muffler to receive a custom muffler service. The appropriate service was never rendered. Instead, the business lied and said they could render a service well outside of their apparent skill level and means. Sheldon's should have turned down the job instead of taking on a job they were unable to handle. Nothing short of a full refund and the business accepting responsibility for their actions is acceptable. I paid for a service never received. Not a service partially received. Partial refunds are only acceptable for partial hiccups in service. Their service was entirely wrong and incorrect. Not partially. And their botched job cost me more money and labor to have the exhaust system fixed---from scratch---elsewhere. 100% money back is all that will be considered appropriate.

as indicated before I offered to refund $150 for exhaust pipe and muffler if customer returns items. we installed a header the customer supplied and give them a discount. I still offer same amount with my materials returned. and amount will be credited back to credit card which it was purchased on. not cash. within 30 days.
