B&T Mechanical Reviews (1)

I called B & T Mechanical in the spring and they came up, and I had a hard time with them because it took them two days to put the faucet in. They couldn't find one of the parts, and finally I showed them the part and they made the repair. But they put the hose on it, so I couldn't see that the repair wasn't done right, and I could see that it was dripping. When they took the hose off it was really dripping; I don't want to lose the plumbing under my mobile home from freezing. When I called [redacted], he said, "Well that's too bad, if I come out there again, you're going to be charged again for the repair fee." A lot of people here in this mobile home park for the elderly have this same problem with this business. I called [redacted] ([redacted]), and they said they've had to go out to fix his work, which costs more, and I don't have the money to pay for this. They have to be stopped because they're preying on the elderly. He was so nasty on the phone. When I told him I was going to take care of this problem, he said, "What are you going to do, come over here and start some trouble?" I told him "No, I'm going to do it the legal way." Desired SettlementI want a full refund from the business. Business Response Final Business Response I would like to respond to [redacted]s' complaint. She did call us in October to address her water problem that we DID know about. I don't know whether or not she remembered that we had left it as a "Mickey-Mouse" repair at that time. To make the proper repair PERFECT, we would have had to replace a lot of the existing supply plumbing. The 2 days were spent trying to locate a special cap that is made ONLY for that valve, and it NOT readily available.( Most of that time was not billed for ). Fortunately, [redacted] DID find the cap. Unfortunately, the cap after 30 years of service was out of round, and would not seal totally. So, she was informed that the repair was NOT what we would normally do, but being aware of her financial situation, we would have to leave it as is (a small leak) and maybe address it at a better time. If this was a great concern to her all this time, then why didn't shecontact us sooner? Not 6 months later. When she did call (several times, due to other circumstances going on with her personal life) we had set a date. I'm not sure what what went wrong, but she then called to demand her money back from work that was already done. Not to try and remedy the problem the way it SHOULD have been done, or even look at it and discuss what we could do, how she could make payments for additional work, NOTHING. Just demanded money back for work already done? Let's clarify the contact with [redacted], it's not that [redacted] goes out to fix our "other" work, it's if they go out to correct HER work, it would cost her money to pay THEM. No matter who is called, they need to get paid for work that they do. As far as "preying on the elderly" Really? We have a customer base of over 700 , that has been formed over the past 10 years + of business. Out of those 700 customers over the course of 10 years +, we have had 4 complaints against us. 3 were found to be frivolous and the 4th is making monthly payments. So I don't think ANYONE could seriously consider us to be "preying" on the elderly. We have even done charity work along with several other jobs for Western Mass. Elder Care. When I told [redacted] that I was NOT going to give her the money back for work that was already done, she said she would "send someone to my door to get it from me", I then asked her " is that a threat?" which I think anyone would take that way. She then clarified that it would be the sheriff to deliver court papers to me. (that's a threat). I told her that would be fine. Bottom line is: We knew and She knew that the work was not a "permanent" solution to the big problem. That we would come back to do a permanent fix when she had the funds. I even told her that she could make payments if need be. She called to set up that appointment, then due to other "personal" circumstances, cancelled and demanded money back. She was very argumentative & belligerent, no other fix would work, ONLY getting money back for work that we had done 6 months ago. We agreed to come back to at least talk about it, THAT was unacceptable. We try to keep our customers happy and usually that is the end result. We had agreed to work with her earlier, but she found that unacceptable. So, short of returning her money in FULL, she will not find any other remedy acceptable. I will discuss (argumentative conversations will be terminated) ONLY: a permanent repair done the right way, at a reasonable price ( discounted for her inconvenience ). Returning payments we received for work done 6 months ago is unacceptable to US. There are other issues at work here that I have chosen NOT to present in a possibly public forum, this is out of respect for the customer. The Revdex.com does have more information concerning these issues from a phone interview should they prove of importance. Sincerely, [redacted] - [redacted], B & T Mechanical - were our logo is "Ask Your Neighbors About US" . [redacted]Business Response O.K. Ms. [redacted] brings nothing new to the table but more slanderous remarks. I stand by the fact that we did try to help her when she needed us, and could only do the work that she could afford at that time.In an earlier version, she found the part, in the newer version someone who "fixed it found it"? If it was fixed then why are we being called 6 months later? No something isn't quite right here. As far as "the park stopping us from doing work", that is untrue. We can do work for anyone we choose to in the park. The board doesn't allow us to advertise in the monthly flyer due to 4 complaints in just about 10 years. Is this unfair? I think so, but the board is like any other group of elected "officials" & I'll just leave it at that. As far as work for Eldercare of Western Mass. What I had said was, we HAVE done work for them, and have even donated some time and materials. And Yes, we still do work for them presently and this can be proven to responsible people. I feel sorry that Ms.[redacted] has to be in this situation, however, we've done what we could and are moving on at this point. Anything further would just be unfounded, and slanderous I feel.We try hard to work with people, however in 10 years, you sure can't please everyone. I'm sorry we couldn't come to a reasonable understanding, however I don't see "give me money", after 6 months, nor indirectly calling me a liar, is reasonable. I've spoken to people at the Revdex.com and there ARE other circumstances involved which AGAIN out of respect for Ms [redacted] I will not bring up.
