Bubba's Handyman Reviews (13)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The doggie door was DONE INCORRECTLY! The door was mangled, hung wrong, and did not fit the hinges---- the door was a complete failure. The original door had to be put back and I had to pay for another corrected installation. These 2 men were incompetent, slow, and unprofessional. This business is a scam. They hung 2 light fixtures and both were hung incorrectly, I had to have them redone as well.BUBBA'S HANDYMAN service is a scam and I lost over 1,000.00 for work that had to be all redone due to the 2 incompetent handymen!
Regards,
[redacted]

The Revdex.com spoke with[redacted] from this business. She states that this was work that was almost completed, about 45 minutes left and it would have been done. While the work was being done the individuals at the home because very ugly and upset finally telling the 2 men working to leave the home at once....

They have been paid for their time and the work they did in full.

[redacted]You followed them around step by step, you looked at everything after they were finished and said that everything was done good and working correctly. [redacted] made sure he did this with you before he left. I am sorry that you feel this way [redacted], you were not charged any extra for the extra time that we spent there to take things up top the attic for you which was a hour (112.50). You checked your door and doggie door to make sure  they were working properly in which they did. Yes one of the lights they had to rewire it, but it was done correctly. You were not charged for any more than you were told when you sent the appointment up, apparently you could have not had us back out there for the second day, if you were so disappointed in the work like you claim. You were charged for the time that they were they and no more the work was done correctly as it was inspected by you after it was complete. You had us out there for 2 days working. The door and doggie door were working fine as well as the lights that we did. I am sorry we could not get to your sink installation but things do take time to be done correctly.

RE: Complaint # [redacted]/BUBBA'S HANDYMAN
I have rejected the explanation by BUBBA'S. They butchered the doggie door: did not sand the door before painting; took too much off the top of the door and the side; did not install the hinges properly; did not install the deadbolt correctly left a hug gap; the door was not fitted into the casing.
Everyone that has seen that door just cringed and they were all told it was done by the incompetents at BUBBA"S HANDYMAN SERVICE. They never took pictures of what they did, contrary to what the manager, the owner's wife stated.
I had to hire and pay another person to rip it out--- it was NOT fixable. They incorrectly installed 2 light fixtures, I had to hire another competent person to redo what they did wrong. The BUBBA handyman admitted he put the first fixture up incorrectly and it had to redo it----he did not redo the 2nd one that was hung by the wire and not the chain----again incompetent and untrained workers.
And, they were never on time and highly unprofessional. They are a scam and a rip off. They do not employ reputable and licensed workers for the job. They entirely misrepresented what they advertised. The 2 men they sent out were not competent to do a good job for the huge amount of money they charged. They are a scam company and the public should be aware of their very poor, incompetent, quality of work, I would give them an F-.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Bubbas Handyman Service cleaned out gutters and stabilized them more securely to the home. Very nice clean up, work and prices. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Bubbas has earned our business. Thanks so much again.

I would like a refund of the $75 service fee I was charged for services not rendered. Thank you.

The customer called us on August 6, 2015 and said that she needed screens put in her windows, I told her we could take care of this for her today and do the screens while we were there. This is what I...

understood customer to say besides 2 others in office that also heard conversation as it was on speaker phone because I was having a hard time understanding what the customer was saying or talking about for sure. There was nothing said about a window that was stuck while on the phone. I explained to customer that if we come out there is 75.00 service call, unless we do work then we will waive or deduct the service call. The customer set an appointment up for august 6, 2015 @ 3:00. Yes I did state that we could take care of it that day because we were under the impression that is was putting replacement screen in windows.  This is why tech was unaware of what was going on when he arrived, he thought it was for replacement screen also.Once we understood after seeing the issue we knew that the windows would have to be custom ordered due to the odd size of them, and that is what we informed the customer, that we could order them today but it would take 4 weeks for new window to arrive. Also that the kitchen window that was painted shut was also glued shut with wood glue.Upon telling the customer that we would have to order the windows she asked where at I told her [redacted] she said that she would deal with them herself, after which is when I told her that she owed us the service call of 75.00.And there are no minors that are employed here. My tech had his nephew with him when he went by here.

Review: I had them come to my home on February 7th and 8th. The people they sent were incompetent, late and did not complete and do the work correctly. They completely misrepresented themselves. They are "bubbas" and do the work poorly and with great incompetence. They overcharged me for their poor services and did not come back to fix what they did wrong in the first place.I would rate them an F.Desired Settlement: I have to be refunded for the way they hung the door and I had to hire someone else to reinstall the door correctly for $250.00.

[redacted] telephoned us on Feb. 4, 2015 and needed a doggie door installed, 3 light fixtures installed and a kitchen faucet installed. [redacted] asked how much it would be for us to perform the work for her, I stated to her that it was 112.50 per hour plus materials for 2 of my guys to be out there. She agreed and scheduled an appointment for Feb. 7, 2015 @ 9:00 am. When we were late [redacted] was telephoned and informed that we were running behind schedule, she stated that this would be fine. When the work was completed on the day of feb. 7, 2015, it was not all completed. On the 7th ([redacted] had purchased a slab door) we primed and painted the door (1 worker) while the other worker was hanging the chandelier type lights that she had purchased. [redacted] stated that she wanted back out there on Feb, 8, 2015 to complete the job.On Feb 8, 2015, [redacted] had somewhere she had to be, we got done all that we could with the time frame. Then [redacted] asked us to move some things for her up to the attic which we did as a courtesy, she was not charged for the hour that it took the guys to help her with this.[redacted] was fully aware of the hourly rate that she was being charged. She was completely satisfied when we left the job, now almost 30 days later she has these complaints. The job was done correctly what we performed, we went above and beyond and even worked a hour without getting paid to help her because she was saying she did not have the funds. As I stated [redacted] was fully aware of our prices when the appointment was scheduled and also when she rescheduled for the next day Feb. 8, 2015.I am sorry [redacted] feels this way. We have done the work as specified by her while we where there. Thank-You, [redacted]

RE: Complaint # [redacted]/BUBBA'S HANDYMAN

We had a new kitchen floor installed by Bubbas Handyman Service, nice, professional work done. Nice price and service. Everyone was polite and clean. Very nice clean up after work was complete.

Review: I called about replacing a window screen and several window glass panes and fixing a window that's painted shut in our home. I stressed the fact that the house is over a hundred years's old and would need custom sizing. Person on the phone (Cindy) said they would be able to take care of it with no problem. She quoted an hourly rate for sending two people over, plus cost for materials, and said could send someone over the same day. I asked if they would charge for the time to take measurements and purchase material and she said yes. I asked if they needed to take several trips since they'd need to purchase the custom sized material and she said they would get it done today. I agreed to start the job. At 3 pm two people showed up - one seemed to be under age. They were not aware of a painted shut window that needed to be fixed. They didn't know what the job involved. After being shown the windows, they indicated the screens were going to be a problem because the house was too old and nothing was standard size. They demanded $75 service charge, which was unmentioned to me from the phone conversation. I wasn't home and my husband was confused about having to pay $75 service charge or else have a lien put against our house. I called the office and questioned them - I thought I had hired someone to 'get the job done' and not to pay $75 to be told it's something they couldn't do. I was told there was miscommunication and now they were aware of the painted shut window and would try to open it. The men on site tried to open the window but couldn't. They now needed to charge me $115.75 prorated hourly rate because the men were out 'doing the job.' People from the office came to our house to join the two men on site to collect the charge. I paid them $75 so that they would leave and not put a lien against our house. Cindy maintained that she mentioned the service charge on the phone at some point. I honestly didn't hear.

The whole experience was a nightmare.Desired Settlement: I would like the business be held accountable for its misrepresentation of service costs and competency so that other consumers won't go through the same nightmare.

Review: We had insulation put into our attic. One of the workers slipped and put a hole through our kitchen ceiling. They called Bubba’s Handyman to come fix the damage.

Two workers arrived. First, they purchased the wrong thickness sheetrock. When they cut out the damaged area, some of the surrounding area dropped (not their fault). They did not put in enough nails to draw it back up level. (I use the term they since there were two men. Most of the work was done by the older man).

After I gave them a piece of 2x4 that I had, they put in the replacement pieces and tried to fill in the difference in thickness with mud, smearing it on the surrounding walls. Without waiting for any of it to dry, they started trying to match it with the surrounding textured ceiling. They were using the wrong method to do this. We told them that it looked terrible.

They then started driving in more nails completely missing the studs. My wife told him he did not know what he was doing and to get the [redacted] out of our house.

He said “I have enough money; I don’t need this chicken [redacted] The boss called. She told my wife “If you know so [redacted] much you fix it”.

The insulation company sent another company to fix the damage. It was done correctly and in a professional manner.

Noone should have to put up with the unprofessional work and attitude of Bubba’s Handyman.
