On August 23, the press at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser experienced a catastrophic shutdown We made every attempt to publish a paper but we were only able to produce about 25,of our 145,run for the day At about am we made the call for our carrier force to deliver the Advance sections we had so we could provide most of the days paper The next day we printed an abbreviated Sunday paper on Maui but the heavy rain grounded the aircraft for hours and some areas did not received this Sunday version till Tuesday We are sorry so many people could not get through to our customer service department, we received more than 10,calls in hours compared to our average calls for the entire day We made every attempt to alert as many customers as possible We provided the information on TV news, radio, phone, alerts on Staradvertiser.com, and email alerts for all our subscribers that provide their email We sincerely apologize and have credited all of our customers a day

My frustration with the Star-Advertiser was their telemarketing When someone says, take me off your call list, that means TAKE ME OFF YOUR CALL LIST! The fact that after explaining my Mom had passed away and I got another call was insensitiveJoe C [redacted] from their customer service did e-mail me an apology and I accept thatI wasn't looking for compensation on my part, but when the telemarketer is out of control and phoning solicitations just to make a sale, We have a problem! Train those people
