Thank you for your letter of concern in regards to a bidder at our recent auction. We run a professional organization and treat all buyers and sellers with respect.
This particular buyer purchased one of several televisions at the auction in question....
Accidentally, another buyer took the remote control to the complaining buyers unit.
Instead of politely asking us to deal with this situation the complainant became suddenly and unnecessarily belligerent and inappropriate. His behavior was out of control even though we immediately offered to resolve the issue. Within 30 minutes of our becoming aware that he did not have his correct remote control the issue was resolved with the return of the requested remote by the purchaser of another television set.
Numerous individuals witnessed the unusual behavior of the complainant and I assume would provide statements verifying that I did not spit or otherwise mistreat this gentleman.
The complainant references the seller in his statement. The seller was very pleased with all aspects of the auction (although he was tearful about the closing of his business which had been located in Cleveland for in excess of 50 years.
Finally, we announced at the beginning of the auction that one or more of our staff may bid on behalf of themselves or as authorized proxies on behalf of those individuals unavailable to attend the auction.
In summation this buyer was treated well by our team, but unfortunately was unable to show any degree of self control or patience during the brief moment’s necessary for us to fashion a resolution to his temporarily missing the remote control to his television.
