Buddy South's Auto Parts Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First Buddy South is not making any offer. They have not taken any responsibility for the issue. They are saying that they didn't not fix the part or give me the option to replace the part because it was not broken at the time they made repairs to the vechile despite the fact that they fixed the oil system because it had a leak, but they failed to replace the oil pressure switch ($12 part online.) They maintain that it was not having any issues so they didn't recommend replacing it. This is strange since they recommended I replaced tires ($280) that were not flat and spark plugs and belts that were not broken or having issue. If they are not willing to stand behind thier work or lack of, I will use social media and word of mounth to inform everyone about the quality of their work. Therefore, there is no offer being made by this company. They have not and won't take responsibilty for their actions or lack there of.
Regards,

Review: I was moving to Az and took my [redacted] into the shop. Told them that it had to be safe for me and my family and to please do what needed. Over next three days, they called three times telling me what work then needed to be done. This included the oil system. (Replace upper intake manifold, replace valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, ignition wires, emission hoses, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, serpentine belt.) In total I paid $2700.

Three days later the car broke down in Shreveport, Louisiana when the engine caught fire. Had to have car towed ($196) to mechanic and spend three days in hotel ($300) while he figured out what the problem was- failed oil pressure switch. When I spoke to Scott at Buddy South, he told me that they weren't going to refund any of my repair costs. They had not replace that part because it wasn't broken. However I pointed out that my tires weren't flat when he suggested I replace them. I told him that the car had to be safe and paid for every repair/part he suggested. When I told him that the engine was now gone and had to be salvaged for $200, (I paid $280 for the tires alone) all he would say was he felt real bad about it, but they were not going to do anything.

So I lost my car, the $2700 for repairs, $48 for mechanic in Shreveport to diagnose the cause of the fire, $196 tow fee, $300 for hotel fee while waiting for mechanic to look at car, and $11,290 for new car.

Although they test drove the car and also ran it on the blocks, the auto shop is not taking any responsibility for missing this. I trusted their reputation to do the right thing. However all they have said is that they feel bad, but they are not liable.Desired Settlement: I would like the $2700 I spent for repairs, 196 for tow and 48 for mechanic in Shreveport. Total $2944
