In response to the matter of complaint #[redacted] brought his motor cycle to

 

our facility on January 251

 

And dropped off for a stator plug leak which he asked to be fixed

 

under his extended warranty plan. The stator is like an alternator on a car , and is what charges the battery. It is located in the primary compartment which does not share fluid with the engine. To repair the stator leak the primary comes off and primary fluid is replaced during this repair. The tech test rode the unit after repair and no low oil pressure light was present on the 7 mile test ride. Mr. [redacted] picked up his bike and came back and stated that his low oil pressure light was on. Tech checked oil and yes it was low on the dip stick. Tech stated the 4 quart system was

about 2 quarts low and the oil was barely touching the dip stick. Although all Harley riders are responsible for checking their oil level at least on¢e a month due to oil consumption, we felt for customer satisfaction, we would drain and fill his oil at no charge to him and check for any abnormal wear in oil. None was noted. As further customer satisfaction we have offered to change and refill his oil in 500 miles riding sat no charge.

After a phone call from Mr. [redacted], he expressed that his bike was still leaking oil on the ground, in which we asked him to bring back to the shop as soon as conveniently possible. Then I received a phone call from Mr. [redacted], which he stated that he was not happy about the low oil situation, and after talking with some of his friends, that he may have a motor failure sometime

in the future. He then expressed that he wanted a new motor supplied at no charge from Buddy Stubbs Arizona Harley Davidson. I explained to him that the motor still had oil in it although that it was low. I then offered to also give him a free 15000 mile service when he gets to that interval. He agreed to that but the asked that we send a sample of his oil to a lab and have it analyzed for copper filings to show if there was any bearing or race damage, and once again demanded a new motor. I agreed to the oil sample and the free 500 mile oil change and 15000 interval service, as

 

 

 

well as inspecting the oil leak under his warranty. He had agreed to this offer but then I did not hear back from him. That is when I received his Revdex.com complaint. Mr. [redacted] has not had his bike at this facility for over a year prior to his stator leak. ultimately a motor cycle owner is responsible for the maintenance of his motorcycle and I fill we did offer him compensation for his complaint. We have no way of knowing what maintenance is or is not done for the year he had possession of his motor cycle. The bottom line is his motor did have oil in it just below the recommended level, and that is what his low oil pressure light is designed for. Now does he have a faulty oil pressure switch, that is something that needs addressed. No one can predict a motor issue in the next two years and certainly does not validate a new motor. Once again, we did not perform an oil change, nor did we have anything to do with the engine oil or oil filter when the motorcycle was in our facility for a stator plug leak.

I turned my Harley into Buddy Stubbs for a 10K service. Upon return of my bike I found many oil spots and fingerprints. I feel my bike was done very unprofessionally. I thought I could trust a Harley brand shop to do a better job than a dirt bike shop. But, I have been proven wrong. Also, I checked my dipstick... I'm half a quart low.
