*** *** walked into the Coeur d' Alene Budget Saver office on Thursday August 11th and requested we hold a room from him for Saturday. We held the room for him for the upcoming Saturday August 13th. When he did not call or cancel or show up he was billed as a now show for $as
we held the room for him all night. The following Saturday the 20th he show up for the reservation he made for August 13th, he was made aware of the no-show charge but wanted a room. At the time we only had a couple room left so quoted him the price of $the price for the rooms we had left. He made quite the scene in the office. My manager was not rude but firm and Mr*** but je left in a huff. My manager has been with me for years and he has always been professional. Regarding smoking, no one smokes in the office area. He may have been outside near the office taking a cigarette break, but he does not smoke in the office. We declined his request for a refund as he made the reservation in the motel office in person and he had confirmed that his reservation was for the up coming Saturday

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: Frist of all you weren't there it was your manager that was there. I did book the room for the 20th not the 13th it was his mistake in most cases a business would try to do what's wright unlike your business. It just goes to show that your running a shady business. Remember the customer is always right you cant make everyone happy but you should try. I've have a very sharp memory and I do know that I booked the room for the 20th. As far as the office smelling like smoke you can make any excuse you want they were smoking in the office and that is tacky too as far as I'm concernedSincerely,[redacted]

You made the room for the 13th and we held it all night.  The previous offer stands if you wish to use it.

Review: We were charged a cash deposit of $50 to stay in a room at this motel. Upon leaving they were unable to find the deposit. Then a employee walked in our room and then back out and back into the office and said someone peed the bed and we were not getting our deposit back. First there is no way to determine anything of that nature by walking in a room and walking back out. Second we had a toddler and I feel we were targeted because of that fact. (we have a toddler so we can use the wet bed excuse to keep the deposit.) Third we were not given any checklists, walk throughs or anything. So how can they keep the deposit? That means there is no way to contest and they can give any reason and keep our money.

I am very concerned for others who willingly pay cash only to lose it.Desired Settlement: I would like our $50 deposit back. Would like their practice to be changed to protect tourists from falling into this trap.

Response:

Ms. [redacted] checked into our motel, and paid a $50 cash deposit, we allow this when a customer does not have or wish to pay by credit card. When her and the gentleman with her came to checkout, their was confusion for a moment on the deposit as the clerk from the night before had not entered the deposit correctly into the computer. This confusion only took a moment to clear up. After Ms. [redacted] checked out her room was inspected and it was found that her toddler had urinated on the bed and though all of the blanket, and mattress pad, and had soiled the mattress. We respectfully declined to give Ms. [redacted] her deposit back for the extra cleaning required. This is the purpose of the deposit, for additional charges. Most hotel do not even take cash for motel rooms, and require a credit card for room rental, for extra charges. Ms. [redacted]'s deposit was kept for the extra cleaning and shampooing of the mattress and for the day the room had to be out of service to perform these extra tasks. As such not refund is due Ms. [redacted]. At the time she checked out the gentleman with her was explained this and he excepted this and knew that the toddler had urinated the bed.

Sincerely yours,

Review: On the morning of Sunday June 16th, my sister and I (We are both in our 70's traveling on a limited budget for medical reasons.) stopped by the Budget Saver Motel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to reserve a room for the night; however, they didn't allow guests to check-in until 4 p.m. It is late for us to 'hang out' in a strange place. We paid by debit card $53.00. We went across the street to another business and they said they allowed guests to check-in at 1 p.m. We decided to stay there for this very reason. We went back to see if we could possibly check-in to a room at 1 p.m. or cancel the reservation we had made at the Budget Saver Motel. [redacted], the manager at the Budget Saver Motel, was rude and said we couldn't check-in early and he would still have to charge us for the night $53.00 regardless. They had a 24 hour reservation cancelation policy. Since the reservation was made and they wanted to cancel within 24 hours he would have to charge them for the room. What?! He wouldn't even give them a receipt for the charge until 4 p.m. How does the 24 hour policy stand when the room was reserved for less then 24 hours, in fact, less then 1 hour! We need our $53.00. They fact that [redacted] couldn't find any compassion at all to understand our circumstances is unreasonable and un-American. Two elderly women, traveling on limited funds, get "robbed" by this arrogant punk. He could have cared less about who what he was doing. We just need our $53.00 money back. Please.Desired Settlement: We just need our $53.00 back.

Response:

On the night of Saturday June 15th, the entire motel was full, every motel in Coeur d' Alene was full. [redacted] and [redacted]y came into the office and asked for a room, they were told we were full but could reserve them a room. They agreed to reserve a room and were notified of the 24 hour cancelation policy, and that it would be too late to cancel. The clerk informed them that check in wasn't until 4 p.m., but we would probably have one at 1:00 p.m. (checkout is not till 11;00 a.m. and it was car d' alene weekend. They came back at 1:00 and wanted to cancel, there room was almost ready, they said they wanted to go to Missoula MT. They were informed again of our reservation policy. All motel's have similar reservation policies. There are no motel across the street, but are 2 homeless shelters, maybe they got a room for free there? But they did not rent a room from them. My clerk [redacted] is a fine upstanding young man, and it is not fare to can him unreasonable and un-American. They were not robbed, they agreed to the cancelation policy at the time of there reservation, so as such the charge will stand.

Sincerely yours,

Response:

All motels and hotels have reservation policies which include cancelation deadlines. When the reservation was made, they were notified of the cancelation policy, because a person changes their mind for their own reasons, it is not the motel/hotels policy to change its reservation policy.

Review: We are renting a room at the Budget Saver Motel for 7 days, during our transition from one house to another. We paid $228.60 for 7 days in cash which included a $50 refundable deposit. Room [redacted] has the following issues: Tub takes over 1 hour to drain, Bathroom Sink takes up to 10 minutes to drain, there is something in the room (or perhaps outside?) that is leaking or coming into the room, that is causes the carpet to be soaked throughout the entire room with very muddy water, the wall heater does not go above 65 degrees, regardless of what the thermostat says & this morning we found 2 cockroaches in our room. At 10:06 am on November 14th, I phoned & informed the Manager, [redacted] of the above conditions and requested that we be moved to another room. He stated that if we choose to move, that we would forfit our remaining 5 days of rent & would be required to pay for antoher room, or stay in the room we are in. I feel that this is justly unfair & disserves immediate attention so that other Guests are not ever subjected to these awful conditions.Desired Settlement: First Choice: We would like a refund of $127.50 (for the remaining 5 days) plus our deposit of $50 for a total of $177.50.Second Choice: To be moved immediately to a room without these disgusting problems. Thank you so much for your help with this!

[redacted] checked into room #[redacted] on Nov. 12th for a week at $160 for a week + tax and $50 deposit ($23 per day). This is one of our older units. On the night of 12th she called about her drain running slow and the carpet. being wet. We had just shampooed the room hours before she checked in and it was not 100% dry yet. She requested an early check in, and it was allowed., this is why the carpet was wet, but it was dry by the next day. The next day the drains in the tub and sink were snaked, and that issue was resolved. On Nov. 12th [redacted] contacted the office about pests in her room, it was inspected, and no pests were found, and she could provide no evidence of pests in her room. The heater was checked and it was functioning properly. When she checked in she signed our rental policy for weekly renter's which clearly states that their are no refunds for partial weeks. Like most motels, different rooms have different prices, she was offered to move to a much larger and more expensive room, but this was not acceptable to her. She stayed for 5 of the 7 days and then checked out and her $50 deposit was refunded to her. We have continued to inspect this room and to this date and not found any evidence of pests in this room as of today. My staff and I our sorry that her stay was not perfect, we endeavor to make all of our guests as happy and comfortable as possible, weather they are paying $89.95 a day or $23 per day.

We stayed at the Budget Saver Motel in Cda, and would like to warn others about this AWFUL place!! As soon as we arrived there and went to check in the "customer service" we received from the manager was FAR from professional nor friendly. The manager was very rude and un-welcoming. Once we got settled in the room, we noticed that he kept coming by (our doors were open) and kept looking inside. We had a really funny feeling about him since the start (due to his bad attitude and the way he was acting). The next morning I went to the office to ask for a towel, the "receptionist" was playing with her cell phone and would not even look at me, I asked her very politely if I could please have a towel. She told me "ummm yeah go find the housekeeper, she should be somewhere around here, so I did. Than we were checking out and bringing our belongings to our car. The manager along with the "receptionist" and housekeeper (who I believe is his gf because I seen them in the car together, getting real friendly) were standing by the stairs looking at us with the worst attitudes and wouldnt even say bye or thank you for coming. The two ladies were standing there alongside the manager smoking a cigarette. So when we got home we checked our account (as always) and there was a charge for $50 so we called the manager and asked him what that was for. He replied "its for the deposit and it usually takes a few days for the charge to come off, and he assured me that it will be taken off because there was absolutely no problem with our room when we left. I told him I was concerned because I had read some really bad reviews on tripadvisor about the deposit not being returned ,and made up excuses to keep the deposit.(sadly read them a little too late) Yet again he assured me that we were fine. So we waited a couple days and now on the account the $50 was no longer there but a new charge for $25, so once again we called and asked why? He replied to me that "one of the managers noticed there was a couple of kitchen towels missing" I could not believe my ears. This is not even about the money its about the fact that this place and the manager is scamming people. I just want to WARN everyone Please be careful and if for some ODD reason you decide to go here always check your account and take pictures of the whole room and everything in there before and after. Better advice tho is DO NOT go to this place it was a NIGHTMARE! :(

Review: I spent a week in the Budget Saver in Coeur d Alene, Idaho. On the first day of our stay they assured us that the room we would stay in would be nice, as they were doing renovations in that room. When we got there, the kitchen sink handle was just set on the faucet, the plumbing was terrible and the shower would not drain the water after each use. The next morning I tried to use the oven to make breakfast and the oven wouldn't heat up. And ever since the first day it was nothing but problems with the people in the office and the room itself. For example, the day the housekeeper came to the room (which is twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays) I took the sheets provided to us and put on my own since we believe I contracted ringworm from that bed. I watched her take the sheets and replace the towels in our room, but forgot toilet paper. My fiance, [redacted], went to the office to ask for a roll and according to him, the lady at the front desk literally laughed at him and refused to give him a roll saying that they only provide 2 rolls for one week. Now Today on November 9,2013 we were in the process of packing our belongings when we received the information that the owners/ managers of the Budget Saver would call the authorities if we were not completely checked out of the room by 11:00 a.m.. My grandmother, [redacted], confronted [redacted], the manager, about this business with the calling of authorities, and he said and I quote "Yes, That is our protocol." with which she responded "My granddaughter and her fiance did nothing to you personally, no harm done, what would be the point of threatening them with the authorities?" After this occurred, she went to the front office and tried to get her $50.00 dollar deposit back, and they refused to give it to her because they are under the impression that we have their originally provided sheets. We also heard that they were offering different prices to different people for a weekly rate. We were quoted $179.00 each week as others were quoted differently.Desired Settlement: I would like to see the $255.00 dollars spent on this place refunded to my grandmother and I would like to see to it that their establishment be either shut down for dishonest prices to different people and uncleanliness or that the existing management problems and existing problems with uncleanliness and rooms be fixed.

Response:

[redacted] checked into room # 302 on 11/2/13. She was the first guest to stay in this room after we replaced all of the floor coverings and had just updated and painted the room. The sink handle was over looked, it was functional and was repair on the 11/3. We had a small problem with the main line that day, but it was quickly repaired. Due to some miss communication with my staff, [redacted] was not aware of them turning in sheets and using their own, which is very unusual in a motel. When they checked in they were made aware of the rules regarding renting to us by the week, which clearly states that only limited services are provided at the low daily price of $27 per day(189.95 per week). This included that we would only provide 1 roll of TP per week and only provide housekeeping services 2 times per week. [redacted] stayed the entire week and checked out at ll:00 a.m. The $50 deposit was refunded to [redacted]'s grandmother by check after they left. Regarding [redacted]'s claim the we charge people different rates, it is true. All motels have different rates for different room classes, this is not unusual. No refund is due [redacted] because she stayed the entire week. The room she stayed in was just redone, and it was sparkling clean as such no refund is due. My staff and I are very sorry that she feels that she was not treated properly, but I am not sure what else we could have done for her.

Sincerely yours,

Property Manager
