Traded with cash and my Blazer. Husband test drove the Tracker I bought. Seemed ok. Bud's wife said they kepted the maintenance up on the car from the previous owner. So we thought well if a shop kepted up on it great. ( when we empty the oil out it was nasty. Gritty stuff came out. Don't look like it was change in years. So they are liers. ) They seemed like good honest people. She talked about how the food pantry stops by and gives them more fruit then they can eat. So they give it to people that come into the shop. And they keep there cars running. I thought that's sweet. On the way home got a check engine light. Came up thermostat needed replaced. My husband pulled it out and it was gutted. He said someone was trying to cover up something. For those that don't know what a gutted thermostat does, it keeps the engine from heating up to operating temp. As soon as he replaced it. The car got to operating temp. There was tapping in the lifters. So my husband called Bud. He acted like what would a gutted thermostat do. If he truly has no clue he shouldn't be working on cars. But of course he said he said he didn't do it. So I called his wife the next day. She acted like she didn't know what problem I was talking about at first. I thought do you have that many problems with people you don't know my husband called yesterday! Anyhow went over the problem again. She offered to bring it back to the shop and they would look at it. I told her I can't drive it with the lifter tapping. She offered a tow truck. Called my hubby he said No they can't take the tracker. He thought they might try to say we owe them a bill for working on the car and try to hold it. I agreed. Called her back and she offered to come out Monday to my house. This was Friday before Easter. So we agreed. Easter Sunday we was talking and he mention once when he called Bud's wife she said he was getting a car up to operating temp and it would be a while before he could call him back. They replaced some springs under the lifters and timing chain. My hubby said they would have had to get the tracker up to operating temp after a job like that. My hubby was going to be at work Monday and I don't know much about cars and didn't feel comfortable with them being there without my husband since we felt they was covering up something. So I told them not to come we think we knew what it was. Which we did think all the lifters needed replaced 380.00 plus gaskets came to 450.00. This was during busy season when my husband's out in the fields from 6 am till 11 pm so he didn't have time to fully find out what was wrong with the engine. Finely busy seasons winding down. He checks the engine out. Only Half the compression in the engine and 0 oil pressure when the engine got to operating temp. So we had to buy a new engine 850. later and my car drives fine. So that's what they was covering up. When the engine was cold the tracker drove fine. When it heated up the bearing lost pressure and oil couldn't make it's way up to the head. Also during installing the new engine he found simple things not attached etc...These people have no clue what their doing and I personally wouldn't let them change my oil. good luck if you decided to do any kind of busy with them. And they do have 2 complaints with the Attorney General office. Wish I seen that before I bought from them. And their previous name before Bud's auto was Joy Auto I believe. There's some complaints there on the web. I would have filled with the Attorney General Office if it didn't take so long before my husband had a chance to look at it. I wrote this to help people not make the same mistake we did.
