Bud's Auto Sales Reviews (8)

I am responding to the complaint that Ms. [redacted] has filed with the Revdex.com. When Ms. [redacted]...

purchased the 2004 Dodge Durango on Feb. 13, 2015 she was very happy with the vehicle. In the next few days she contacted the manager and said there was on oil leak. As a goodwill gesture we had her bring the vehicle in and repaired vehicle. Unfortunately it did take a couple visits to cure the problem. We sell all of our vehicle AS-IS . Ms [redacted] has signed all documents pertaining to our AS-IS. She was also informed she could purchase a warranty through an outside company on her date of purchase but she declined. We also have documentation. As far as the ticking noise on the vehicle that has happened after we had repaired vehicle. Ms. [redacted] is liable for all repairs on this vehicle. We have been in business for almost 50 years. As of today Ms. [redacted] is behind on her car payments and technically can be found in default. There is nothing we can do for her at this point. As far as me dodging Ms. [redacted] that is untrue. She is not happy with what I have told her. I have tried to explain to her we can not fix something that was not a problem to begin with. Thank you for your time, if you have any questions please feel free to call me at 351-1852.                                         ... Thank you                                         ... Marilyn [redacted]                                          General Manager

I would like a refund if they are nit willing to repair my vehicle the proper way

Review: ILLEGAL SALE....

I purchased a 2013 Subaru WRX. Everything since has gone terribly wrong. On our drive home the car reeked of fuel & exhaust, it leaked all over my garage. I took it to a subaru shop and found out that the car had many engine modifications and worst of all the catalytic converter was gone!.. I was not informed of any of these modifications by the dealer when I purchased this car. It will cost thousands of dollars just to make it legal... So now I haven't even been able to drive this car, and I'm stuck fighting with the dealership to pay for these repairs.

Bottom line is -- this car should have NEVER been SOLD to anyone! It's highly illegal in PA, won't even pass an inspection...Desired Settlement: Repair or refund of car purchased.

Review: Took my car to Buds Auto to be inspected and I had a list of repairs that needed done. I first spoke with the service manager on the phone and explained everything I needed done and also told him to call prior to doing any repairs and let me or my mom know how much it was going to cost. I gave him both phone numbers over the phone and I also taped a list of the repairs I needed done or checked out and the numbers to call prior to doing ANY work, this was taped to the steering wheel. I also kept a copy for myself. They ended up having my car for over 3 months. My mom and I called several times about it and I made several trips to their garage. Every time they had an excuse why it wasn't done yet. When I asked them if they found the reason there was water on the floor of my car The service manager acted like that was the first time he heard of that being a problem, even though it was on the list and I also told him about it on the phone. So he said they would look into it. Another time when I stopped by to see if it was almost done yet he told me they were waiting on some parts to come in. Another time I asked him if they fixed my door yet and once again he acted like he knew nothing about that so he said they would check it out. So after they had my car all summer I finally get it back and first of all they charged me 531.21 [after earlier telling me it would be around 250-300] which they never got approval for most of the repairs. And they did not fix the water problem even though he said they did.[when I got my car back there was a puddle on BOTH sides of the back floor and the car smelled like mildew. He told us they could not fix the back door, the sun roof was not fixed, rubber around drivers door and back door was not replaced, covers on head lights still are scratched and rust on back wheel was not cleaned off. All of these things were on the list and told to him numerous times. And besides nothing being fixed and having my car all summer when I got it back the wind sheild has a crack in it that was NOT there before! Both my mom and I talked to one of the owners about the problems with the car and he got very rude with both of us and when I took the car down to show them the crack on the windshield the service manager became very rude and lied to me about getting approval for the work.Desired Settlement: would like for Buds Auto to pay to have my windshield repaired my another garage

Review: I got a new car from [redacted] and they gave me papers to take to Buds Auto to get a refund on my gap insurance for the car I got from them that I traded in at [redacted]. Buds auto filled out the refund papers and said I would receive my check. It going on 4 months now and I still haven't received the check and everytime I call to figure out what going on they don't know and said they can't do anything. They aren't even trying. They never return my phone calls withers. They don't seem interested in helping me or giving me my money!Desired Settlement: I want them to send me my money and figure out what is going on

Review: I purchased a WRX STI Subaru from Buds Auto Sales in May 9 2015. At the time of the purchase I oil gage appeared to not be working and was maxed our on the gage. We went ahead a purchased the vehicle and did not purchase the extended protection plan. In June 13 2015, my vehicle overheated and started making a knocking sound. I pulled over and turned the vehicle off. I let the vehicle sit and then was able to get the vehicle to restart however the vehicle would not stay running when placed in gear. I had the vehicle towed to my house. The oil sticker indicated that is was due for an oil change at the time of purchase. Once at my house, the car was completely out of oil. I called Buds Auto Sales that Monday June 15th and explained what happened and also that the car was not up to date on oil and that the car had no oil in it. The service department and the gentleman at the dealership told me that because I did not purchase the extended protection plan they would not be able to help me. The dealership also stated that the car had not be serviced 2013, but then quickly corrected himself. When I questioned why the oil sticker on the car had not been changed, the gentleman had no response. After much discussions, Buds agreed to tow my vehicle to their garage to look over. The phoned me and indicated that I would need a whole new engine. We discussed the oil sticker and again Buds Auto Sales indicated that they do not know why the oil sticker was not updated. My car has been with Buds Auto Sales since June 2015.Desired Settlement: I do not want the vehicle any more. If that is not an option then I want them to repair the vehicle with no cost to myself. If neither of those are options, then I will purchase another vehicle from them only after the vehicle has a full inspection at a service station of my selection to ensure the vehicle I am purchasing is functioning properly.

Response:

Bud's Auto Sales inspects every vehicle before it is put on the lot for sale. This particular vehicle went through the inspection process and had it's oil changed. The sticker in the vehicle's window reflect the date and milage of when the last oil change took place, this deviates from standard practice which shows the time the next oil change in due. Therefore; I can understand why the customer was confused. As for the engine repair even though the engine failure was not the fault of Bud's Auto Sales we offered to repair with no charge for labor only charge for parts, the customer decline this offer.

Review: Purchased a 2004 Dodge Neon. Was told the car was inspected and everything was fine. Within a few months I had MAJOR mechanical issues that should have been addressed BEFORE it was sold. Should NEVER have passed inspection with these issues. Very unsafe to drive!Desired Settlement: Would like to be totally reimbursed for the car to be brought up to inspection standards. The car was already fixed by our own mechanic. We paid him out of pocket.

Dear Revdex.com Representative,

We appreciate the notification of this complaint and have attached supporting documentation of efforts to resolve this matter prior to the complaint filing on 19 July 2013. Accompanying notes explaining the timeline of interactions with this customer and efforts of good faith to resolve the noted issues are explained below.

• 13 February 2013:

The customer purchased the vehicle in question ([redacted]) from Bud's Auto Sales' Beaverdale, PA location at an approximate $500 discount from the asking price of $5,995. The miles on the vehicle were 67,976.

The vehicle purchase included a 30 Day Bud's Powertrain Warranty as standard for vehicles of 2008 and previous model years. This is circled for reference in the Buyers Guide that was signed by the customer in Attachment A.

At the date of purchase, the customer was provided the option of purchasing additional warranty coverage on the vehicle, as noted by the service contract availability clause on the Buyers Guide in Attachment A. This extended coverage was declined by the customer.

• 06 March 2013:

The customer contacted a Bud's Auto Sales employee outside of the service department working hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm (approximately 6pm) to state that the vehicle would not start and was located at [redacted] (20.0 miles from dealership). The Bud's Auto Sales employee advised that if necessary they could meet the customer at approximately 9:00pm at the above location to examine the vehicle. The customer stated this would be fine given the close proximity of the customer's residence to the location. At approximately 8:30pm the Bud's Auto Sales employee contacted the customer and subsequently met the customer at 9pm.

Upon arrival, the customer provided the keys to the vehicle to the Bud's Auto Sales employee. The vehicle started for the employee with no issues. The Bud's Auto Sales employee stated they wanted to examine the vehicle at the dealership to check for possible causes of an intermittent start condition and provided the customer a vehicle on loan for transportation at no charge,

Examination at the dealership revealed a trouble code indicating failure of a camshaft position sensor. Bud's Auto Sales replaced the camshaft position sensor as well as the crankshaft position sensor. These electronic items are NOT

covered under a powertrain warranty but were replaced free of charge. The costs of these items are in Attachment B.

The vehicle was returned to the customer 09 March 2013. The customer stated a few days after taking receipt that the vehicle no longer had a starting issue. 19 March 2013: 30 Day Powertrain Warranty from Bud's Auto Sales expires. 22 April 2013: The customer contacted Bud's Auto Sales stating that multiple issues had been found on the vehicle by their mechanic. The customer was instructed to bring the vehicle to Bud's Auto Sales with the list of items that were thought to be defective so the vehicle could be inspected by the dealership. 23 April 2013: The vehicle was dropped off at Bud's Auto Sales Beaverdale, PA location for inspection along with the list of defective items. It was noted that the customer had already paid to have the right rear wheel bearing replaced by their mechanic on 22 April 2013. The customer provided the old wheel bearing. It should be noted at this point the vehicle was no longer under any warranty provision from Bud's Auto Sales. The invoice of work performed and recommended by the customer's mechanic is located for review in Attachment C. During the time of examination the vehicle had been driven 2,356 miles since the date of purchase. A line by line explanation of the invoice and inspection by Bud's Auto Sales is listed below.

Oil Filter, oil, antifreeze, washer fluid, tire valve, light bulb, inspection and grease are either maintenance or wear items that no warranty covers. These items total $57.90 of the bill,

The right rear wheel bearing that was replaced was examined and did not have any play in the bearing present, but showed audible signs of initial wear. Bud's Auto Sales agreed to reimburse the customer $200.00 for this item as a show of good faith, regardless of the fact the vehicle was out of warranty. The receipt of the check is shown in Attachment D.

The rear brakes were examined on the vehicle and it was noted that the material was beginning to separate from the shoe. Bud's Auto Sales replaced the rear brake shoes and hardware at no cost to the customer,

All tie rod ends were examined for play. The RF outer tie rod exhibited approximately 0.015-inch of play, well within specification and PA Safety Inspection Requirement at outlined in Section 175.80, Subsection E. 2.ii for the allowance of front-rear wheel movement on a passenger vehicle,

The lower control arm bushings were inspected and showed wear but did not possess any play. There was no ball joint movement on the vehicle as stated per PA Safety Inspection Requirements outline in Sec 175.80, Subsection E.3.i.

There was no abnormal tire wear indicating that an alignment was necessary. The vehicle was test driven and no drivability issues were found. The customer was informed of the items that were replaced free of charge as well as the condition of the items listed in the invoice. The customer was satisfied and the car was returned to the customer.

• 16 July 2013: Bud's Auto Sales was contacted by the customer stating that they had invested $750.00 in the vehicle and wanted reimbursed for the cost. An invoice was provided (Attachment E) and it was noted that the invoice was for the repair of all items listed in the above section. Since these items had been inspected by Bud's Auto Sales previously and the customer had understood in April 2013 that the vehicle was not unsafe and the parts did not require replacement per Bud's Auto Sales nor the PA Vehicle Equipment and Inspection Regulations Bud's Auto Sales stated they would not reimburse the customer for this work. In addition, it should be noted that the customer had put 5,042 miles on the vehicle since purchase.

• 23 July 2014: Bud's Auto Sales was informed of a consumer complaint concerning the customer in question with the Revdex.com.

Summary

The customer is requesting reimbursement in the amount of $750.00 for items that were replaced on a vehicle they stated was unsafe to drive and would not pass inspection. In response:

1. The vehicle was determined to be safe, meeting PA state inspection requirements as well as examination by Bud's Auto Sales mechanics. At no time has this vehicle been unsafe to drive.

2. Using the criteria as issued by the State of Pennsylvania and the items listed on the invoice issued on 16 July 2013 as well as their previous inspection by Bud's Auto Sales, not one item on the invoice is a rejectable item in the condition they were in during the examination at Bud's Auto Sales on 23 April 2013 per safety inspection requirements.

3. The vehicle has been driven 5,042 miles since the date of purchase and has been out of warranty since 19 March 2013. The condition of the vehicle 5 months and 5,000+ miles after the purchase data is not indicative of its condition at the time of purchase.

4. Bud's Auto Sales has attempted throughout this process prior to Revdex.com involvement to put forth a good faith effort to resolve these issues. To date, under no obligation warranty or otherwise, Bud's Auto Sales has provided the following items to the customer at no charge:

a. Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement

$62.60 retail part cost + 0.6 hrs labor at $85.00/hr

b. Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement

$34.20 retail part cost + 0.5 hrs labor at $85.00/hr

c. Replacement of Rear Brake Shoes

$80.45 retail part cost +1.1 hrs labor at $85.00/hr

d. Reimbursement for Right Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement

$200.00 issued to customer

e. Use of a vehicle on loan during sensor replacement

$35.00/day x 4 days

$113.60

$76.70

$173.95

$200.00

$140.00

TOTAL COST OF WORK PROVIDED NO CHARGE TO CUSTOMER

$704.25

5. Actual cost to the customer of the unnecessary replacement of the parts as mentioned by the customer after subtraction of the maintenance/wear items and reimbursement is $497.11, not $750.00.

6. From time of purchase the owner has continued to drive the vehicle, as indicated by the mileage intervals listed above. This indicates there were no MAJOR mechanical issues nor did any of the issues listed significantly affect drivability or safety as the owner felt the car was safe enough to continue driving throughout this duration. As a small business we very much value our customers and appreciate their business. Additionally, previous dealings with this customer have been very pleasant, and we value and appreciate their return business. Unfortunately we have tried to satisfy this customer by examining the vehicle and replacing items out of vehicle warranty at no cost to the customer as a show of good faith. As a business, we cannot justify paying to fix unnecessary items on out of warranty customer cars indefinitely, especially after the vehicle has been driven by the customer in excess of 5,000 miles since purchase, and have concluded that this customer cannot be satisfied in a reasonable way.

We appreciate your attention to this matter. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

LIARS! We were very specific with what we were looking for. Living 2 hours away, a majority of the sell took place over the phone. The salesman was good to work with and went over his strict no haggling policy efficiently. Upon arrival, we were EXTREMELY disappointed with the salesman's idea of good quality. The "minor rust, lightly touched up" was an entirely different color spray paint. The tires with "slight wear" probably wouldn't have gotten us home. The overall condition of the truck was sad, gutless, and an entire waste of our time. That's without mentioning the overbearing cigarette odor, rotting doors, and grinding brakes. Unless you are in the market for a "priced to sell" vehicle well over blue book value, I would avoid this place like the plague. We didn't expect mint condition, we expected honesty.
