Explanation:
The customer placed the original order for vitamin water when it was on sale. Buehler's Brunswick Grocery Department special ordered the product, and had a detailed list for Buehler's Service Center on how this special order was to be rung up. When the customer came to pick up his order of vitamin water, that list was missing. In order to give the customer the sale price (which was after the sale), Buehler's Service Center rang up the order by item then divided out the sale price by using a store coupon. The regular price was well over $500.00, and that was the tax paid. Buehler's manager was trying to make it right for the customer and did not realize the tax did not come off when the store coupon was used. The order should have been rung up on grocery for the sale price, avoiding any confusion on price and appropriate taxes. Even though we tried to take care of the customer at the time, there were steps we have identified and will use to improve the process.
Resolution:
Buehler's is sending the customer the enclosed letter, and a Buehler's Gift Card for $67.25. This is to be mailed on November 30, 2015.
