Buffalo Tires & Auto Repair Reviews (1)

Review: Friday 09/05/14, my car failed smog for registration at [redacted] which is literally the suite next door (Suite B). The [redacted] suggested I go next door to [redacted] at Buffalo Tires and Auto Repair to get my car fixed. I passed the visual and emissions test but failed the functional check. Codes P0421 and P0443 came up as well as the failure of the check engine lamp. I showed [redacted] my smog report and he gave me an estimate consisting of: changing the O2 Sensor, Evap Solenoid, with labor, all for a total of $297.I decided to go get other estimates and acquire parts myself to try to save some money. After a month, I found that [redacted] gave the best price. I also bought my own O2 sensor and check engine light bulb.Saturday 10/25/14, I took my car back to [redacted] and gave him the parts. He said the price would be the same even though I found the parts because he said the modular fan was broken and the fan would replace the cost of the parts I gave him. I said fine and continue the work. He said my car would be ready in a few hours. No reply that day. Finally on Monday, he said the car was ready and it had passed the smog test next door. The following day, the check engine light went back on. I decided to go to a friend's trusted mechanic this time to take a look as I suspect I was being taken advantage of at [redacted]'s. After explaining my story, the mechanic took a look and said my car was fixed illegally to pass smog. He said [redacted] didn't replace/fix my solenoid. Instead he found an improper modification to a wiring harness to jump wire the signal from the old "good sided" solenoid to the failed side causing a problem to the ECM, testing no signals and causing a faulty ECM driver. As a result the car needed an ECM repair/replacement with an estimate of $975.77 to fix.I went back to [redacted] the next day and told him what he did. He denied all allegations saying he was "doing me a favor for helping me pass smog." I told him to refund me and pay for the damages. He refused to cooperate and said he had no money and did nothing wrong. I told him to "fix my car" not to "just pass smog" as I was planning to sell my car right after the smog test and registration. I am an honest person and wanted to give the next owner a top notch car. I went ahead and paid for everything out of my pocket to fix the ECM on my car and to sell it. It definitely is not running the same now as before [redacted] "fixed" it.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and damages caused to the car repaid. I want to take [redacted] to small claims but realize there is a high probability it would go nowhere. I have no choice but to report and have the BAR investigate Buffalo Tires for cheating people out of dubious repairs and possibly EZ Auto Smog for conspiring and perhaps splitting the money with [redacted] from conning clients.
