Failure to recognize a moth infestation will cost me upwards of $5000 to repair 2 oriental carpets.
The failure to recognize a moth infestation in the very early stage has caused 2 oriental carpets to need more than $5000 in damages.

When I asked the pest control technician 4 months ago, approximately 5 January, 2018, what the black dots hanging from my ceiling were, he told me it was dust.
In fact it was the start of a moth infestation.
The moths were under every piece of furniture in the living and dining rooms, and had eaten several holes through 2 oriental carpets. Before I can even have them repaired, I have to pay the oriental carpet store in Ocala approximately $2500 to have them cleaned and moth picked or they won't touch them. When Bug Out came by to see the damage Friday 19 April, 2019, they only sent a salesperson to my house. Not a technician. He was going to charge me $250 and up to fix this moth problem. When I complained that it was the inability of the technician to identify the moth cocoons on my ceiling, Grady the salesperson said "ok, it will only be $250 for you". This is extremely unprofessional and in my opinion a hard sale tactic.

Desired Outcome

I believe the $66.00 fee for the month s of January and April should be refunded.

On Dec 7, 2018 a regular service was completed with no mention by the technician or the customer regarding any moths. On 3/21/19 the next regular service was completed which again has no mention by the technician or the customer of any moth activity. She states what we assume is a conversation on the 3/21 service with the technician of there being black marks on the ceiling. The technician did not note any evidence of any issues.

On 4/16/19 a call back came in for moths. We returned the call on 4/17. While onsite at the customers home, the technician called the branch manager to discuss the moths. He could not identify the type but said he could get a sample for identification. The branch manager told the technician to try and find the source of the infestation, but he could not. We told the customer that we would ID the moth and that we would get back to her in the morning. We identified the species as "clothes moths" on the morning of 4/18. We dispatched a sales professional go out to ascertain the severity of the infestation and attempt to find the source. The sales professional called the branch manager and stated that the infestation was fairly severe and that he could not find a source either. At that time the sales professional offered her a One-Time-Service (OTS - which includes a free follow-up if needed) for $250.00 as this is not covered under her current pest control agreementand there would be several hours of work involved in correcting this issue. The customer stated that she would get back to him the next day - she did not get back with our sales professional.

The branch manager inquired and asked the sales professional to follow up with her. She could not be reached. On 4/24 she called the call center to cancel her account at 2:28PM. Later that same day she posted her complaint to the Revdex.com.

How they were introduced into the home is unknown. The life cycle for a clothes moth is extremely fast. If there was an early issue as she stated, and she had called our office - we would have had a record of that call - there is no such record.

The sales person sent is one of our most knowledgeable employees. She never expressed her unhappiness with anything until canceling. We would have been happy to speak with her and discuss the issue and why this treatment fell outside her current agreement and requires an additional cost. Unfortunately, but we were never given the opportunity.

We stand ready to resolve her problem for our standard One-Time-Treatment fee of $250.

NOTE: All Safe Termite and Pest control was acquired by Bug Out Service in November of 2016. All contracts and agreements were honored and unchanged as a result of the acquisition. In addition, Ms. was notified in writing of the change.

Paid the two year contract off in full 2 months early Paid thru end of February 2019. A company tech showed up yesterday with to remove inground termite bait stations I paid for thru end of Feb. 2019. Before Christmas 2018 I called Jason service manager from Ocala and said we are selling home but I wanted to pay off the balance of my 2 year contract at that time which was $56.00 for the last 2 months of monitoring service. I did not let tech remove them as I told him I was paid till end of Feb 2019 and they can take them out at that time. Jason called me last night Dec.27 2018 said paying off early ended my contract! I told him someone owes me $56.00 because I paid thru Feb 2019 and expect them to remain in ground and be monitored for the month of Jan and Feb. 2019 I paid for or issue me a 2 month refund and you can take them out early

Desired Outcome

Continue the monthly monitoring for Jan and Feb2019 and then remove their termite bait stations at that time per my 2 year agreement.

Bug-out Service Response • Jan 18, 2019

The company agrees to continue the monthly monitoring for Jan and Feb 2019 and then remove their termite bait stations per the 2 year agreement.

Customer Response • Jan 18, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Not happy with their contracts. Signed a 2 year contract and they kept charging my account after the 2 years until I caught it. Refused to return my money. Also, they do not do any in-house maintenance. I always thought maintenance was the reason for having pest control. I do not have a bug problem, but I keep my house very clean.
