Review: Build Now NOLA built my home after Katrina. Before moving in I saw paint peeling off of the back deck stairs. I was told verbally that they would fix the paint. I had to write them about this and a few other problems on June 1, 2012, because nothing had been done. Andrew Holbein; (Director of Operations sent me a letter dated June 13, 2012 they would have the painting redone within 30 days. This was never done. I sent an email in Dec. 2014 informing them that the exterior wood was rotted in several places and had not been repaired yet. They said that this was no longer under warranty and to see the attached contract; (which was not attached). I emailed them and said that there was no attachment in their email and that I had made them aware of this before moving in. I also told them of the letter that they had sent me on June 13, 2012 stating that they would have the painting redone within 30 days and it had not been done as to this date and thus has caused farther damage. I told them that I expected them to fix their mistake. They never responded to me again. I paid a lot extra for my deck and now the edges of my front entrance have holes from rot, my front porch has many rotted boards and the molding beneath is rotted, my back deck has rotted railing all around it and it is spreading. The top of the support beams has completely rotted away and I fear the someone may lean on them and fall 8 feet to the ground. My house is less than 3 years old. I am paying a new mortgage and do not think that I should have to make another loan to fix what they should have done in the first place. I am not sure why the wood is rotting. I want my money back so I can hire someone that knows what they are doing to fix my exterior wood properly. It needs to have all of the rotten boards removed, then rebuilt and painted.(front entrance, stairs, safety railing,& front porch, safety railing,& back stairs, deck, safety railing and support beams, air conditioner support all needs to be remove and replaced.Desired Settlement: I want them to pay for a contractor of my choice to make all of the necessary repairs as it should have been when it was first built. I would also like to know that the rot is not caused by a wood fungus or any other health danger. I also think that their contractor's license should be revoked since I have seen this same problem on about 10 other homes that they built according to their website. They do not seem to be concerned about their mistakes not feel responsible for them. They need to.

Review: My name is [redacted] and I am writing to you to file a complaint on behalf of my mother, [redacted] My mother contracted with Build Now (now located at 2327 St. Claude Ave.) to build her house after Hurricane Katrina. The house was built at [redacted]. about 5 years ago. My mothers house is currently featured in their sales brochure and was listed on their first home tour. My mother has been in her house less than 5 years and the paint has peeled off of the porch, deck and ramp. If fact, the paint started peeling before she moved into the house. Build Now was informed of this and said that they would address it. They told me that this was a problem that existed in several of the houses they build. It was not until before Hurricane Isaac that they sent someone out to inspect the house. I had informed Nikki Najiola of Build Now that enamel paint was used on the porch, deck and ramp. It was not exterior paint. Build Now finally sent someone over and they scraped most of the paint off and started painting it again with the same enamel paint. Hurricane Isaac interrupted their work and we were told that they would come back to finish the job. That was over 2 years ago and no one has come back to even look at the problem. My mother and myself have repeatedly called Build Now, visited their office which was located on Elysian Fields Ave., e-mailed and texted them about the problem. On March 26, 2014, I e-mailed Ms. [redacted] about the problem. I attached pictures showing the problem had gotten worse. She responded that she would bring the problem up at their board meeting and get back to me. I have gotten no response from her since that time. I e-mailed her again on May 12, 2014. Still no response from Build Now. Because the paint was wrong for the porch, the wood has now started to rot. The wood under one of the main support beams on the porch has rotten. I am afraid the whole porch will have to be replaced soon. Also, the wood around the frame of the back door has also started to rot. I am beginning to fear for my mothers safety in this house. My mother entered into this contact with Build Now in good faith and they have not lived up to their agreement. A house that is less than 5 years ago should not have these problems. We have tried to work with them, but they have not responded. We have no other choice but to file a complaint with you against them. I also plan to contact the State Contractors Licensing Board. I can be reach at ###-###-#### (home) or ###-###-#### (cell).Desired Settlement: I would like the necessary repairs made to my mother's house before the front of the house falls in or the front porch gives way.
