MrR*** *** came into my art gallery in July of this year and after finding g a few items that he wanted to purchase he asked if I shippedI told Mr B*** that to make sure what I ship arrives safely, I most of the time deliver it myself between San Diego and San FranciscoI rarely ship to
the east coastBut when I do ship as far away as the east coast I build wooden crates to assure the item gets to its destination in one piece.Mr B*** asked what the shipping cost would be and I told him I would not know until items were crated measured and weightedOn the invoice for MrB*** I clearly stated that the $shipping charge was an estimate onlyMrB*** di not make the purchase that day but called and sent a check with a copy of the invoice that I gave him when he was in the galleryI also charged MrB*** $for crating costsI did not charge MrB*** for the seven hours of my time spent purchasing expendables to make the crates and constructing the crates and handling all the other shipping detailsI am a one man operation and most of my income is from custom orders and my gallery is my showroomI do not make widgets for touristsAnd if I did make and ship widgets that were the same size and weight, I would know the cost of shipping.I sent MrB*** a text because that is the only way he would communicate with meI have no email address to write to for MrB***The text was to inform MrB*** that there was a balance for the shippingI sent him a photocopy of the FedEx Freight manifest, Bill of lading and the FedEx invoice to show that I was not trying to overcharge him for the shippingI also informed MrB*** that three small items were mistakenly left out of the cratesThe items were a electric cord for a lamp, a small bird house and a base for a six foot tall birdhouse that shippedI then received another text from MrB*** accusing me of holding his items hostage in exchange for my bloated shipping costs.MrB*** texted me again suggesting he would pay half of the shipping cost if I would send him the forgotten items firstAt that point I told MrB*** in a text that his items were paid for and he was welcome to have them picked up or pick them up himself and that I could not spend one more cent on shipping costs that I would not be reimbursed forI never once told Mrb*** that I was holding his items as collateral and if I did he should have documentation to that effectI have all the receipts for shippingI have two hundred more in receipts that I have not tried to collect from MrB***I also sent his smaller items UPS and the big items (seven feet long) Fed Ex Freight. Now I find myself for the first time in twelve years defending myself over a cost for shippingMy business is a success with a gallery right on the beach in Cambria and I don’t need to weasel money out of customers for bogus shipping costs .If you need my documentation showing all of MrB***’s shipping receipts, I would be happy to send copies from FedEx and The Cambria Business center which shipped three items UPSI also would like to add that I have a five star rating on Yelp and to say that the Revdex.com has not had but this one complaint in twelve years about my businessSincerely yours,*** * S***
