Review: On 5/27/15 my garage door would not go down by remote. It appeared to be a little off track. I called an ad I saw called Garage Doors Repairs 619-450-1946. It included a coupon for $85 off any garage door repair and also states that they offer senior citizens and military discounts. The guy that showed up quoted $350 to fix the door. I showed him the ad, and he said it didn't matter bc the taxes would still bring the bill up to $350. I thought that was excessive but then he told me what he would have to do to fix the door so I agreed. What he actually did was have my daughter pull the red release line as he lowered the door. We went inside but within minutes he tells me he's done. The door is shut and gives me a list of items that should be replaced I felt ripped off. What he did was the same thing I would have done or my grandson, even my neighbors but I wanted the problem fixed not just shut. I told the guy the service wasn't what was agreed and he said it was. I paid then called the number to complain and was told the service was complete in full. The door does not open and close by remote. This was a scam. For the price, I expected parts to be replaced and the door to be operational.Desired Settlement: Clearly this company is not going to budge but I would expect a partial refund for the work that was completed. The guy didn't spend more than 20 mins, it was more like 15 just to pull the door down. He did say that he reset the spring, cables and drms(?) and may have but the door still isn't working so it's questionable if he did it at all or did it right we went inside. I just had hip surgery and my wife is ill and on oxygen so my daughters had talk with the technician. I feel ripped off and disrespected by the service provided. Usually when you are retired from the military, you may not get discounts or special privileges but you usually get a little respect. This guy saw an opportunity and took it. My wife is upset by this and has been sick to her stomach.

Review: I called the subject company to inquire about an estimate for installing two (2) new garage doors. The company sent their representative, [redacted], Certified Technician out to assess the job and to provide a quote. A price of $2200 was negotiated and agreed upon to complete the installation, which was to commence on 5/30/13. I issued a deposit check of $220 to seal the deal. Subsequent to completing the deal and after Mr, [redacted] left my home, I received a call from [redacted](owner), indicating that he could not go forward with the agreed upon deal because there was a mistake made in pricing. He indicated that if I was willing to pay $3000 he would complete the job. I said no, we already had a deal and a signed contract. [redacted] said he would be returning my check and "good luck on finding cheap garage doors". I believe this is clearly a breach of contract.Desired Settlement: I believe that the contractor should go forward with the signed agreement to install the garage doors at the negotiated installation costs with all related features.

Response:

I explained to Mr. [redacted] that [redacted] made an error calculating the cost of goods on the job and that we could not do the job for that price within an hour of Mr. [redacted] receiving the estimate. Mr. [redacted] has several bids for this job, in fact he showed one to [redacted] for $200 less than what we quoted him. We are well within our rights to cancel this job, just as he would have been well within his right to cancel the job within 3 days. The quote that he got for 200 less was from an unlicensed person that cannot legally do the job. This complaint is not justified, and Mr. [redacted] should be ashamed of himself for the black mark he has put on my company. We will not do business with Mr. [redacted].

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

As mentioned in my original complaint, I contacted this company in response to an ad they placed in a local advertisement paper for a quote on the installation of garage doors. Phillip, who works for the company was sent out and provided this quote, which was accepted by me. Subsequent to conferring with the installer, he performed his calculations for total costs for materials and services in my presence. If there was a miscalculation in price for the work, since he is a direct representative of the company, I feel that this should be placed in the category of a "Breach of Contract".

I'm not trying to get anything out of this company for this situation. In fact, I consider this matter closed. But I do believe that if miscalculations by their field representatives is a pattern, or if management feel that they are not getting enough money for a particular job once the deal has been settled and a deposit issued for start of the work, then this is an internal matter that should be resolved immediately. I'm just a consumer trying to get garage doors installed by an honest and reputable company. Case closed.

Review: I contacted Patriot Garage Doors on 10/10/2013 approximately 11:50am. and was treated with rude and hostile behavior from [redacted] who answered the call.

As stated above I contacted Patriot Garage Doors on 10/10/13. The person answering the phone gave his name as [redacted]. We spoke of the problem that needed repair. At the end of the conversation, as he was trying to book an appointment, I inquired about price for estimate. He informed me of he price and I advised him that I would like to call him back due to the fact that I did not want to keep paying service charges but I still may use his services. He abruptly ended the call. I was flabbergasted. I tried to call back but no answer. I looked for a corporate office on the internet but all I was able to locate was another number which was [redacted] so I called it. A gentleman who gave me the name of [redacted] answered. He claimed he was in the corporate office and was management personnel. I explained the story and also informed him that as I was speaking with [redacted] I noticed a lot of good attributed his company offered so I was highly considering using their services had it not been for the conversation I had with [redacted]. I asked if we could resolve the issue so he transferred be back to [redacted]. I'm under the impression that a conversation went on between them while I was on hold so things would go better with the next conversation, however, I could not been more wrong and extremely disappointed. [redacted] got on line and I asked him why did he feel the need to hang up on me. He abruptly said to me and I quote "I'll just do it again". And he did! I have never been treated so humiliatingly in dealing with a business in any business transaction before. And to make matters really bad, neither representative tried to correct the situation and gave me the feeling that they just didn't care.Desired Settlement: I would like an estimate on my garage door, and considering the rude disregard I was unfairly subjected to, I feel it would be a fair gesture to accommodate my service free of charge. If, however the company is willing to show its intolerance to such unprofessional behavior, I would not turn down a complimentary garage door as well as having their employees attend training to avoid any further inconvenience for future consumers. I can only imagine that the actions of these two individuals has p

Response:

My sincerest apologies to Ms. [redacted], that kind of behavior is not acceptable nor tolerated by this company, and the parties involved have been dealt with. Attached is an e-mail I sent to Ms. [redacted] on 10/15. Our pricing on garage doors are as follows : 2 Car Garage Doors are $850 (including tax and labor), Single Car Garage Doors are $700 (including tax and labor). Windows added to the 2 Car Garage Door is $200 additional, 150 additional on the Single Door. We are still willing to go out to Ms. [redacted]'s property and give her a free quote if that is what she desires.
