To whom it may concern,This is in response to a letter received by Revdex.com by a former customer of my business Mrs *** *** dated April 2015.In the complaint, Mrs *** asserts that she was audited for 2012, this is incorrectChanges were made to the original return
due to non reporting of items reported to the IRSThese items were never furnished to our office at the initial tax appointment for that yearI did meet with Mrs *** and attempt to rectify her issueUpon seeing that documents that were not provided to me, I informed the taxpayer that the letter was indeed correct and the tax would be dueI also informed her I would do some extra "legwork" to see if the calculations of tax by IRS were correct.As far as addressing the issues with non communication with the taxpayer in follow up interviewsWe did have major phone and networking(New Phone/Internet Svc Provider) troubles last summer that kept us working from cell phones and email rather than our traditional phone linesAs a small family owned business we do keep reduced off season hours in the summer and fall so we can be hard to reachAdding to this, the fact that we had some extended hospitalizations in our family resulting in a death in May and another loss of a loved one in June, needless to say our business did not take precedence during this trying time in our livesThe meeting in question was a meeting over funeral arrangements that I could not reschedule and due to the stress of the moment I simply did not have the where with all to cancel with Mrs ***.In regards to being financially responsible for Mrs***'s obvious omission from the taxes, had the entire file been complete upon my initial preparation of the taxes, none of this would have been a problemLack of organization is not a reason for demand of payment on this caseWe did the taxes to the best of our ability with the information presented to us at the timeWhich is within the IRS code of conduct of how we should do businessIn fact, our office did not charge the taxpayer for the initial appointment, the follow up, or the examination of the taxes to make sure the IRS calculations were correct; our office did all of this work without charge.We do however, express regret for failing in the follow up because of extenuating circumstances in our personal lives during the time frame in question.
