The customer came into the car lot on a Friday afternoon to see about a vehicle. He was told he would have to have a $1000.00 down payment, carry full coverage insurance with us as lien holder/$500 deductibles and then we would finance the...

remaining amount for him. He stated he wanted to make his payment around $900 a month so he could pay it off quicker. We told him that we would not want to make his payment that high and lock him into an unreasonably high payment just in case he wouldn't be able to make it but he has the option to pay as much as he liked as long as at least the monthly payment was made that there is not an early termination penalty. He said he could have the down payment next week but wanted us to hold the vehicle for him. He was told the only way we hold vehicles is if he pays something down on it that day and it would go towards his overall down payment which he decided to pay $100 down. The very next morning, which was Saturday morning, he called asking if we would take a smaller down payment so he could afford the insurance and sales tax. He was told by the receptionist at our furniture store not the car lot that he would have to call Monday because the person he would need to speak to wasn't in that day due to being Saturday. Bullock Auto Sales are not open on Saturdays. On Monday he called asking the same; however, the salesman called in sick and did not make it in. The receptionist explained that to the customer and took down his message. He called again the next day asking about the down payment again. He was told the sales person is sick again and should be back Thursday or Friday. The customer called again on Wednesday in which he was told that the salesperson was extremely sick and would not be in until Friday. The customer stated that he really wanted to talk to someone about the vehicle and see about test driving the vehicle. He was explained that he would have to talk to the salesperson who would not be in until Friday due to being out sick. We are a very small business and only have the one salesperson. On Friday the customer called back stating that he went elsewhere and bought a vehicle and wanted to see about getting his $100 back because he felt he was getting the "run around". He was told we never gave him a run around. We cannot help the salesperson was out sick. He was back in that day like he was previously told. He was also told that money to hold a vehicle is not refunded. He could come down and finish the transaction like it was going to be done. The vehicle had been held for him. It was the day that he had said he would have the down payment anyway. He said that he has gone elsewhere and wanted his money back. He was told that is was not refundable since the vehicle was held for him like he asked it to be.
