Review: BumperAuthority uses false advertising, they claimed to be a Revdex.com member on their website and on their front door but are not active members.

Claimed to performed front end body repair but did not do completely as stated on estimate invoice. When detected on the short cut and pressed, owner Steve only returned cost of part but not the labor cost. After adding extraneous cost in the middle of the repair that was not in the estimate, the bill was $999.49 before "discounting" the $110 reinforced bar part that was in the estimate and claimed to have been installed but was not. But the "labor to install it" (as it was not installed, admitted by the owner) remained on the bill and was paid in full for. I would like to ask for that portion refunded.Desired Settlement: Since the part was never installed, I ask for the portion of the labor cost that was included in the estimate and charged to my credit card refunded to me.

To whom it may conccern,

Review: I brought my 1976 Lancia Scorpion to Bumper Authority for bodywork on 3/17/14. The scope of work included: repair of minor dings and dents all around and to repaint the vehicle in original color, including under hood/trunk, door jams and trim pieces. The owner, [redacted], gave me the original estimate. He stated that he was honest and a man of his word, so I felt comfortable trusting my car (which has a lot of sentimental value to me and my father) with him. He told me they would use high quality 2-stage paint, it would be done in 2 weeks and he would keep me updated throughout the process. We agreed on a total price of $2,500 for the work. I gave him a deposit of $500 cash that day, making the remaining balance $2,000.

The first week the car was at their shop, I came in for a day to remove some parts, including door panels to help make their job a bit easier. I also asked [redacted] to have the cracked front windshield removed BEFORE they paint it, because it would surely damage the new paint if they remove it after. He agreed, and I paid him an additional $100 to do that.

After that, weeks went by w/ no updates from [redacted]. I would call once or twice a week to get an update, and [redacted] would tell me the car would be done by the "end of the week", "a few more days", "we're really close", etc.. I waited patiently, as I was under the impression that I was getting a "$5,000 job done for $2,500", as quoted by [redacted] himself.

I live 30 miles away but every couple of weeks I would stop by their shop, only to see things that they haven't done, like taking out the windshield. I also found a few parts on the car his workers broke, like the passenger side vent which is no longer available and can cost anywhere from $300-400, if you can find one; one of the roof straps, which are only sold in pairs, for $280, plus shipping; as well as cracking the upper dash piece in multiple spots which cannot be found anywhere to get a replacement cost for. Finally, after a month and a half they finished the bodywork and painted the car....and THEN took the windshield out! Then [redacted] gave me a call to 'make a deal'. He offered to throw in a wet sand and polish if I came in that day to pay him the entire $2,000 balance. I agreed, and we also agreed to give him a few more days to do the wet sand and polish. Well, days went by and the car was still not ready...until a couple of weeks later on 5/9/14.

When I went to pick it up on 5/10/14, I noticed the car was STILL not done! There was over-spray EVERYWHERE from a poor masking job, and a deep scratch on the front bonnet, which I assume was from when they removed the windshield. But my tow guy was already there waiting to pick up the car and frankly I was fed up with dealing with these guys, so I just decided to take the car and deal with the issues myself.

I was willing to live with ALL of those issues, until I discovered a week later, when reading the left-over paint can that I brought home when I picked up the car, that despite [redacted]'s promise to use a 2-stage paint, they used an inferior single-stage paint instead! I feel completely ripped off and disappointed with this whole experience. Instead of getting a $5,000 job done for $2,500, I got a $1,000 job done for $2,500!Desired Settlement: I'm requesting a $1,500 refund, as this should have been a $1,000 job.
