Enclosed is a copy of a letter I mailed to the proprietor of the Burkehaven Motel in Sunapee, NH concerning charges on my credit card, When I made my reservation via telephone, there was no mention at all about a cancellation policyI got the information about this establishment from AAA and AAA's description of this motel made no mention of a cancellation policyToday, when I saw Burkehaven's charges for two nights on my credit card, I became alarmedI called the motel and then followed up with a letter If I had known about Burkehaven's policy when I called on August 1st, I would have made other arrangements knowing my friend was not wellGetting a confirmation email after the fact is too lateI feel they took advantage as I should have been told about the policy when I called as it appeared I already had a cancellation problemI am not happy and expect the company to be fairWho can afford to throw away $dollars? And that is exactly what's happening to me
Booked a room at lodge on 6/Arrived on the evening of confirmed date and was told no rooms were available
On 6/10/I went onto the website of the Burkehaven Lodge and booked a night stay arriving on 08/05/and departing on 08/07/I secured the reservation with my credit card and printed the confirmation
I arrived at the Burkehaven Lodge at 8:PM on the evening of 08/05/and gave the desk clerk my name and was asked at that time if I had reserved the room under a different name, which I had notAfter the clerk checked his computer he informed me I was not scheduled to arrive until 08/06/I informed him that I had the confirmation with me but he was uninterested in seeing it, and that there were no rooms available
I ended up having to book a room at the *** in ***t a substantial increase in cost
