Dear [redacted],

As per our phone conversation this afternoon, I would like to add the following information regarding my claim against Burns Auto Repair, Inc., [redacted], Newtown, Pa. [redacted], ###-###-####.

On November 11, 2015, just under two months, (September 15, 2015) after my 2004 [redacted] was inspected by Burns Auto Repair, an inspection which included the installation of new brakes and rotors on all four wheels, the truck suffered a catastrophic failure of the braking system. During the period from the inspection to the brake failure, the truck was driven an additional 1,597 according to odometer readings on invoices from both dates.

I have attached, to this e-mail, the invoice for work that was done at [redacted]’s [redacted] to repair the problem, a failed brake line.  In speaking with the mechanics at [redacted]’s, they implied, while brake line inspection is not a “regular item” for Pa. state inspection, it seemed unusual, with all the brake work Burns’ claimed the truck needed, that they wouldn’t have looked at the brake lines. They insinuated that both lines showed stress, heavy wear and the need for replacement. Yet, Burns’ mechanics obviously didn’t look at the brake lines, again, despite the extensive brake work they claimed they performed on the truck.

Following my $1,148. invoice, (which included duplicated and frivolous charges)  from Burns for the inspection,  It cost me an additional $252.17 to have the two brake lines replaced, plus, the cost of the tow from Langhorne Pa. to [redacted]’s as the truck could not be driven.

Luckily, I was at the bank drive-in when my brake pedal went to the floor and stayed there. Had I been driving on the highway, which is where I was heading next, who knows what could have happened. Although I can imagine, a pick-up truck driving at 55 mph, would be difficult to stop with the absence of brakes.

I have also forwarded this information to the Fraud Division of the Pennsylvania State Police. It will be added to the case file regrading my complaint against Burns Auto Repair, Inc.

   Thank you, [redacted]
