Review: My wife took our son to this business based upon the advertisement for teeth cleaning. It turned out that he needed more work and we provided insurance information for both our dental plan and our health insurance plan. They indicated that they contacted both insurance providers before the service was provided and provided a cost for service after insurance, which we paid. It turns out after the service was provided, an additional charge of $534.30 was billed and they indicated that they did not really fully contact both insurance providers to fully ascertain what the reimbursements would be. We feel that we are a victim of bait and switch and we would have not gone through with the services with this provider if we would have known the full costs.Desired Settlement: Honor the previous estimate provided and previously paid ($697.25) by check and credit card. The additional charges of $534.30 should be waived as this was not a part of the estimate provided based upon stated coordination with insurance providers.

Review: In 2013 I was working a low wage job and had very little money to my name. I was on an extremly. tight budget. I had no health insurance and my teeth were in very bad condition but as most people know, dental care without insurance can be extremly expensive. I found a coupon online that stated that a dental office (Burtonsville Dental Care)had 59.99 special where they will clean your teeth and give you dental xrays for a reduced price. I was ecstatic and called the company prior to going in to verify that this was an accurate deal. I also wanted to inquire if their was any fine print that may be included. When I spoke to the receptionist she confirmed that the coupon advertised was accurate so I scheduled an appointment. When I got there I had my teeth cleaned. While the dental assistant was cleaning my teeth, with no warning, she took a picture of my teeth without my consent. She then informed me after she took the picture that she just checked to see if I have mouth cancer and would owe the company $39 for the service. I was shocked because that was not what I came in there for, nor did I ask her to give the test. I had no intention of getting that service and was baffled as to how you can be a first time customer who comes in on good faith, trusting what was advertised on their website and you end getting a service you never asked for! They company billed me for the service. I refused to pay for it so they sent the account to collection. When I called them to dispute this they refused to take the charge back, not caring about the level of dishonesty they gave me. I inquired about the dental assistant who performed the service and they claimed she no longer works there and when she was cleaning my teeth it was only her and I in the room. Everytime I call they gave me the run around and the person in charge claimed she called and spoke to me (which she never did) and stated that she told me she wouldn't take the charge back. This company has committed fraud.Desired Settlement: Through my personal investigation I have found that what this company committed was fraud. They advertised a service with the hopes of luring new customers and then charging them for services that they don't inform you of. They need to contact the collection agency they reported me to and confess what they have done and remove the charge. If not I will contact a lawyer because even one of the representatives stated that in the system it stated that I had only been scheduled for cleaning.

Review: In January 2014, I received a flier advertising x-rays and a dental cleaning for a reduced rate (somewhere around $59) from Burtonsville Dental Care on [redacted]. I made an appointment and came in for the special. As part of the intake application, I was asked why I stopped seeing my last dentist. I explained that while I loved the care and the doctors (free nitrous, with headphones and movies that I could watch while reclined in the chair getting my teeth drilled, etc.), they had supposedly checked with my two insurances (I had two at the time) to see how much my dental work would cost (about $200), and then came back a month later with a bill for almost $1000. While I paid them, I made it clear that there was no way I was ever coming back. I explained this on my form, and to the receptionist, and then I also explained it to two more ladies including the lady who took my payment as I was leaving. I made it clear that this was a HUGE deal breaker for me. Later, the technician gave me an idea of what I needed done (2 fillings and a cleaning). She gave me the total cost of $607, which I thought was a little high and made it clear until I found out what my insurance would cover, that Id have to do the work in sections because I didnt have $607 to spend at that moment. Remember, I came in for the advertised x-ray package? One [redacted] lady went to check with my insurance. She came back and said the cost would be $173.40. I asked if she was sure, and explained once again what had happened with the other dentist. The lady said shed go back and double-check, and came back to confirm that my cost would be $173.40.About a month later, I got a bill for a $159 plus a $109 plus a $106 charge for the x-ray series when they were supposed to be at the discounted rate on the coupon/flyer they sent me.I simply do not understand how several people can assure me/say that they double-checked with my insurance company and can confirm that my cost for treatment is going to be $173.40, and then a month later - I get a bill for two and a half times that amount. I came in for the advertised x-rays and cleaning special, and I never saw that amount anywhere on my bill, and then I approved the work based on information given to me by the staff who are supposed to know how to deal with and get information from insurance companies, and it ends up being a [huge] mistake?Everyone at the office seemed really nice and very patient and professional, so Im trying to understand how this isnt all some big bait and switch.Bottom line: it isnt fair to tell me that my bill is one thing, which I paid and then out the clear blue sky one month later - send me a bill for two and a half times more. No explanation why nothing.I have asked Burtonsville Dental Care to please correct their billing files to show me as having a zero balance, and even suggested that the staff consider reviewing the insurance guidelines so that this doesnt happen to other patients. But instead of them doing this, or even trying to contact me directly in response to my calls and letters (we played some phone tag, but the phone is currently in their court), they just keep sending me revised bills.1.Between Feb and Aug 2014, Ive been billed four different amounts for the services I received ($173.40, $433.60, $165.60 and $34.60).2.With regard to the first bill for $433.60, Im still unclear about why theres a $159 plus a $109 plus a $106 charge for the x-ray series when they were supposed to be at the discounted rate on the coupon/flyer they sent me. Was this a bait and switch?3.Despite sending two letters with all of my contact information and an invitation to contact me if they had any questions or needed any additional information, Ive never even been given the courtesy of an explanation about why there was such a significant discrepancy in the original billed amount of $173.40, the subsequent billed amount of $433.60, or the NEXT subsequent billed amount of $165.60. Instead, I received a Past Due bill. As I pointed out in my March 10th letter, it appears that Burtonsville Dental didnt even bother to read my correspondence; they obviously just decided to ignore my concerns.4.I have a copy of the bill that says I owed $173.405.I was very careful to ask for assurances that this $173.40 was the correct total amount that Id be billed6.I received assurances from several people that the $173.40 was the correct amount, and relied on these assurances when I agreed to go ahead and get the cavities filled even though I just came in to get the special, introductory rate x-rays and cleaning as advertised in the flyer I received in the mail.7.My dental and vision care are kind of lumped together with my insurance. I use [redacted] for my vision care. [redacted] has never had a problem figuring out all the code numbers and calculations that are necessary to give me the correct bill amount when I get my trifocal glasses, which run about $800. Ive never received a follow-up bill from them.8.Even the dentist I went to (years ago) in [redacted] who [didnt tell me I should have gone to a surgeon] and tried to pull a tooth and in the process cracked it, and then tried cutting part of my gum away to get to it, and then hours later when he was still trying to get the cracked tooth out - broke my jaw and left a huge bone shard and all kinds of dead tissue that got seriously infected right before Snowmaggedon and I had to go to another emergency dentist - knew how to bill me correctly. And people wonder why I have issues with dentists.Anyway, Ive explained this to Burtonsville Dental Care about a million times. In writing. Ive also advised them to stop sending me bills especially with any kind of Urgent Notice messages on it, and let them know that I dont want to have to write their office any more letters. This should have been cleared up after the first letter. Ive made my point more than abundantly clear: their mistake they fix it. I acted in good faith, had a reasonDesired Settlement: Two things: 1. a copy of a final bill showing "Final Bill" and a zero balance. 2. if any late payment info related to this bill shows up on my credit report, I want a letter from Burtonsville Dental Care explaining that they made an error and my balance is zero.
