Review: I initially filed a complaint through the BSA's NO-PIRACY Hotline against my former employer. I had confidential information regarding my former employer's misuse of licensed software. Initially, I had every intention of remaining anonymous on the phone. The NO-PIRACY operator was very persistent with suggestions of a reward. I asked him at that time, “what information would be necessary to qualify for a reward payment?” He stated that “only my name and contact information would be necessary”. From that point I fully cooperated with the BSA’s investigation, taking phone calls from the investigators and answering all of their inquiries to the fullest of my capability. My own inquiries had only been concerning the completion of the case. At no time was I ever made aware of terms and conditions regarding reward payouts from the BSA. Now that the case has successfully concluded: I have only been told that the case has been closed and a settlement made, the majority of my phone calls and e-mails have not been returned and I have only recently been provided with a blanket statement about the reward terms and conditions that had not been previously offered. I have also been told that I do not meet the criteria for a reward and cannot contest the issue, due to the terms and conditions that I have never been advised of. It is interesting to note that while the BSA publicizes their NO-PIRACY campaign and pursues those that deservedly should be stopped from profiting from the accomplishments of others, their own business practices are also deceptive and deceitful.Desired Settlement: A reward payout, based on the settlement amount as outlined in the BSA's NO-PIRACY Terms and Conditions, an official apology for misconduct and an elimination the deceptive advertising practices and the standard operating procedures for rewards payouts of the NO-PIRACY Hotline of the BSA.
