I had a very negative experience with a recent move through Winnipeg Moving, both in respect to the logistics of the move and in attempting to deal with the company afterward A general overview of my concerns with the move were:
1) Damage to a wall in my former house which was not been addressed beyond an acknowledgment of responsibility and confirmation that a repairman would be in contact until several communications and a full payment of the bill had been madeTo date, as the matter was passed to the new owners of the house, I am unaware if this has been rectified
2) At the time of arrival of the movers, I pointed out to them a pile of boxes and two bags clearly marked "Pick-Up" and separated from my other articlesThese were to be picked up by the Diabetes Association on The following daySomehow, despite their labels and my instructions, the movers loaded several of these boxes and bagsI noticed this and brought it to the attention of the driver, who said that they were at the front of the load and would be returned on the second tripIn checking later in the day, following the move, I found that two boxes, clearly marked "Bedroom Clothes" had been added to the pipile when the other correct boxes had been returnedIf I had not noted this, two boxes of my personal goods would have been "lost"
3) My television was disassembled by your mover and not reassembledI could not find the bolts required to restore it and attempts to solicit help from Winnipeg Movers in locating/replacing bolts was fruitless
4) A part of the headboard board my bed was left in the house, preventing the full assembly of my bedThe driver requested that I go and recover it because the movers remembered seeing it on the bedroom floorThis became a point of contention, when I refused to recover the missing part and left it to the movers to determine how to rectify the situation Following an hour in which the driver attempted to call management for directives, he eventually reached a general manager who told them to leave the site with the bed unassembledI recovered the piece and completed the assembly on my own later that night
5) Several garment bags that had been piled beside a wardrobe box in the master bedroom were inexplicably left behindI found them upon a return to the house and I was required to transport these in the evening
6) In my new house, despite previous directions that the hardwood floors were new and not fully cured, I was required to ask two movers to either lay mats or remove their shoesI am not aware how many trips had been made over the new floors with their outdoor shoes before this was caught
7) Since the move, as I have begun to organize, I have found :
aNumerous articles that had been directed specifically to one location, either by a clearly marked label or verbal instructions, piled elsewhereExamples include a birdbath taken into the basement, a workbench of considerable size that I had specifically indicated to remain outside also in the basement, office boxes in the kitchen
bA number of cases where component parts were separated and piled in different places, including two microwaves with the glass trays removed and left in two different locations (bedroom and basement) separate from the microwaves, light bulbs removed from lamps and left in the former residence (and the lamps and shades left in different rooms), several shelf units where removable shelving was taken out and left in a different location (in one case, I found shelves in my basement, bedroom, and kitchen for a shelving unit that had been stored in a Pup unit in my yard ..I still have not found the hardware necessary to eventually reassemble this unit which had been disassembled into two halves)
Attempts to address these issues with management, and ultimately with sales staff, met with *** disregard for customer service or professional responsibility on their partThe "salesman" told me he was too busy to discuss the matter and, following a brief exchange, threatened litigation if the full bill was not paid
While others may have had a positive experience with Winnipeg Moving, it is clear that I did not receive the level of professional service claimed by the company and reflected in their ratesIt is also very clear that the company *** is not geared toward customer satisfaction *** *** The move proved to be a highly frustrating and stressful experience, and , for the expense entailed, I had little to no satisfaction with the service providedI would strongly recommend avoiding Winnipeg Moving
