Sorry for the slow response on thisI have been a goldsmith for over thirty five years and I,personally, take pride in my workI always tell my customers, I guarantee my workIf there is a
problem, to please bring it back for my inspection, and if it's my error, I fix it at my cost, not theirs
The ruby ring in question is a light weight 10k yellow gold designer ring that is prone to have future problemsI, personally, helped this customer and suggested that she bring the ring back to where it was purchased, because of the design and weight of the ring but she insisted it would take two to three weeks and she did not want to wait that longI told her I would try to repair it, if that was what she wantedI explained to her to repair the ring properly, it would cost about half of what the ring cost, if not more
When this ring was brought in, it appeared to have been rubbed up against a cement or brick wall and most of prongs holding the stones were bent, broken or significantly worn thin, and one diamond was missing
I straightened the prongs, repaired the broken prongs, and tried to tighten the rest of the worn prongs, and replaced the lost diamondI tried to save as much of the gold on the prong's as possible, while polishing, so the stones would stay secureIn doing so, some of the deeper scratches were not removed, just polishedthe ring looked nice and was occasionally wearable, when she picked it up and she said it looked good!

Prongs can be pulled up very easy, by catching them on thingsI am not saying it was Mrs***'s error or mineI don't know and we never will
But, as in all repairs I do, I ask my customers, if they have a problem, to please bring it in, I guarantee my work, and she should have returned it to me to evaluate the problemI proudly take care of my customers repairs and always will it free of charge, if I determine it is my mistakeI do not know if it was a prong I repaired or not, Helzbergers did what she asked me not to do, Mrs*** did not give me the chance, and I do not feel I should be responsible for a bill that I could have prevented

Buskala's never said anything about returning the ring to where I bought it (company not in business any more), that it was rubbed against cement or a brick and when picked up it looked good to the naked eye but then I am not a jewelerI don't remember if he said he fixed or replaced prongsAs for the diamond ring he said all prongs were goodWhy would I want to give him a second chance and return my rings to a place that did not fix them properly and then had the gall to lie to me and say everything was good
