Review: I, [redacted] opened a "Secured College Rewards" credit card with [redacted]. I was required to have it secured since I lacked a credit history at the time. I deposited $300, which became my credit limit. On November 13th, 2015 I called "card member service" to close my account. I was told that I would be required to pay off the "balance" on the card. I explained that my account was secured, and that the available funds were from a deposit I had already made. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with "[redacted]" who told me the same thing. I asked to speak with his supervisor. I then spoke with "[redacted]". She explained that they ([redacted]-3rd party credit card processing company) took over my account on November 2nd, 2013 as a "non-secure account" it must have been "converted" by [redacted] prior to them taking it over, and I would have to resolve the issue with them. Since then I have made several attempts to have [redacted] produce evidence of my opening documents or any related information of its "conversion" of my credit card. I've been told by its associates: "We don't keep records", "I don't have access to old records". [redacted] (Employee of [redacted]) claimed this type of situation has happened before and that he would search emails to see how those issues were resolved. He promised to call me back with updates several times, yet failed to keep those promises. After weeks of me calling him, he finally gave me the Regional Manager's contact information. I emailed and called (L/M) "[redacted]" on January 4th, 2016. She emailed me back on January 5th. She said "Bank records will show a deposit account, but not anything on the Credit Card." She wrote "It is more complex than it appears on the surface, but I will look into what can be done." Although I received her email only yesterday, I feel I have hit yet another dead end with [redacted]. I think I have given them substantial time to resolve this issue and they have failed to do so.Desired Settlement: 1: I would like [redacted] to provide opening statements and/or conversion documents of my "College Rewards Credit Card" account, proving it was in fact a secured account.
2: I'd like to close my account with [redacted] without being charged the "balance" because it is money I have already paid. (Need [redacted]'s documents to do this)
*Want available funds mailed to me, if applicable.
3: IF 1 and 2 fail, I would like [redacted] to reimburse me my $300 deposit, so I can pay [redacted], and close my account.
