Again, the churting problem is not an installation problem We had contacted our salesman to be in touch with customer, explain the problem, and take care of, and had the understanding it had been satisfied As far as the block, the 1/2” overhang is not required We have the literature from our block supplier showing installation procedure of laying the block with an overhang, or laying the block with no overhang The customer did not request any overhang at any time I also am not sure what gluing problem he is talking about I’ve been in this business for over years, I do know how to properly glue on a cap Our customer will be contacted to satisfy this Respectfully Submitted, [redacted]

1/years ago we were contracted out to pour his driveway, along with a brick stenciled sidewalk and steps The problem with the driveway that he is referring to is caused by churt pops - nothing to do with installation of the concrete or workmanship of our employees Churt pops is a type of stone that cannot be totally eliminated We did use low churt concrete, as we typically do I did contact my salesman from the concrete company concerning this problem The salesman came out to his property and explained the churt problem to him and gave him gallons of sealer at no charge All was satisfied and invoice was paid in fullA couple months later we were contracted out to build a retaining wall by his driveway; along with that, he asked for a circle be built for his flag He ended up not liking the way the circle looked, so asked me to redo it into a square Being it was his original request to have the circle and now changing it to a square, I agreed to redo it, and told him I would only charge him for 1/of the cost, and that I would pick up the other 1/- he agreed Again, all was satisfied and invoices paid The following spring I received a call that things were shifting and stones were loose I did at that time, go back, re-leveled the wall and reglued the cap stones This was all done at no charge With the type of stone product that we installed, glue it not used to hold them together Only on the cap stones is glue used, which I did I also did use 1/2-yards of Limestone for a base - which the wall was, or is, about 60' x 1' for width of blockThe call I received this year was NOT asking me to fix it He stated he was getting someone else to fix it and that the estimate was for $and was wondering if I would pay 1/the cost Then, after the project was completed he called and said the cost was $1000, and wanted me to pay 1/ We haven't talked since, so I am not sure where the $came fromI don't feel I owe him any money The repair he had done this year, I wasn't even aware of a problem until he called saying he had somebody else coming to repair the wall and was looking for 1/of the cost be coveredRespectfully Submitted, [redacted] Owner, Buyze & VerVelde Concrete

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowWe apologize for the delay in responding back to the contractor's response, we wanted all of our details correctHere is our response back, we are hoping this case can be reopened for we strongly we are due compensation for very poor service and job not done well for the cost we were charged.1) The churting problem with our driveway is still occurring and continuing to worsen even after the sealer was appliedVerVelde mentioned the salesman coming over to deliver the sealet and discussing the problem , when in fact all he did was drop it off when we were not home to discuss after several phone calls to finally get VerVelde to respondNow what kind of solution do we have now ?? Come over and take a look , but don't bother if you will be doing this when we are not homeWe can be contacted and arrangements can be made so we can view this problem together.2) As for the circular wall we originally requested to be built around our flag pole , we have pretty much concluded that had the correct blocks beed used all would of been fineYes we did pick out the color, however, sizes and shapes to complete the job correctly should have been made by the contractorWe had no idea what was to be used since we are not contractorsso with this being said, VerVelde & us could have saved some time and moneyWe paid a lot of money for this wrong servicealso, when the contractor returned to level the wall after our complaint of it being unlevel and the caps loose, their knowledge of doing this correctly was very poorThe blocks used were to be installed with a 1/2" overhangThat is the way this type of block used was designed forSecondly, leveling a stone wall should not be leveled off with woos shimsseriously wood shims ? Third, the caps were glued on with the proper glue, but the glue was not applied properlyVerVelde put globs of glue on each corner, the proper and correct way is to put a continuous bead along the entire lengthTranslate As for a settlement, the initial estimate give to us by a third part to repair correctly was more than actually ended up to cost to fix it, the final bill was $only because I helped as wellWe feel Vervelde should at least be paying us back $300.00, this is a lot less than what we should actually be getting back from him

referring to is caused by churt pops - nothing to do with installation of the concrete or workmanship of our employees.  Churt pops is a type of stone that cannot be totally eliminated.  We did use low churt concrete, as we typically do.  I did contact my salesman from the concrete company concerning this problem.  The salesman came out to his property and explained the churt problem to him and gave him 5 gallons of sealer at no charge.  All was satisfied and invoice was paid in full.
A couple months later we were contracted out to build a retaining wall by his driveway;  along with that, he asked for a circle be built for his flag.  He ended up not liking the way the circle looked, so asked me to redo it into a square.  Being it was his original request to have the circle and now changing it to a square, I agreed to redo it, and told him I would only charge him for 1/2 of the cost, and that I would pick up the other 1/2 - he agreed.  Again, all was satisfied and invoices paid.  The following spring I received a call that things were shifting and stones were loose.  I did at that time, go back, re-leveled the wall and reglued the cap stones.  This was all done at no charge.  With the type of stone product that we installed, glue it not used to hold them together.  Only on the cap stones is glue used, which I did.  I also did use 1 1/2-2 yards of Limestone for a base - which the wall was, or is, about 60' x 1' for width of block.
The call I received this year was NOT asking me to fix it.  He stated he was getting someone else to fix it and that the estimate was for $1500 and was wondering if I would pay 1/2 the cost.  Then, after the project was completed he called and said the cost was $1000, and wanted me to pay 1/2.  We haven't talked since, so I am not sure where the $600 came from.
I don't feel I owe him any money.  The repair he had done this year, I wasn't even aware of a problem until he called saying he had somebody else coming to repair the wall and was looking for 1/2 of the cost be covered.

We apologize for the delay in responding back to the contractor's response, we wanted all of our details correct. Here is our response back, we are hoping this case can be reopened for we strongly we are due compensation for very poor service and job not done well for the cost we were charged.1) The churting problem with our driveway is still occurring and continuing to worsen even after the sealer was applied. VerVelde mentioned the salesman coming over to deliver the sealet and discussing the problem , when in fact all he did was drop it off when we were not home to discuss after several phone calls to finally get VerVelde to respond. Now what kind of solution do we have now ?? Come over and take a look , but don't bother if you will be doing this when we are not home. We can be contacted and arrangements can be made so we can view this problem together.2) As for the circular wall we originally requested to be built around our flag pole , we have pretty much concluded that had the correct blocks beed used all would of been fine. Yes we did pick out the color, however, sizes and shapes to complete the job correctly should have been made by the contractor. We had no idea what was to be used since we are not contractors. so with this being said, VerVelde & us could have saved some time and money. We paid a lot of money for this wrong service. also, when the contractor returned to level the wall after our complaint of it being unlevel and the caps loose, their knowledge of doing this correctly was very poor. The blocks used were to be installed with a 1/2" overhang. That is the way this type of block used was designed for. Secondly, leveling a stone wall should not be leveled off with woos shims. seriously wood shims ? Third, the caps were glued on with the proper glue, but the glue was not applied properly. VerVelde put globs of glue on each corner, the proper and correct way is to put a continuous bead along the entire length.

As for a settlement, the initial estimate give to us by a third part to repair correctly was more than actually ended up to cost to fix it, the final bill was $600.00 only because I helped as well. We feel Vervelde should at least be paying us back $300.00, this is a lot less than what we should actually be getting back from him.

Review: We had them build a retaining wall for us along our driveway, they said they could do it no problem, we wanted a circle for our flag, which when they assembled it , it had gaps and looked horrible, for a fee they redid it in a square . this was done 2-1/2 years ago. Well the first year I called them to tell them it was shifting, moving out of place and some pieces were loosening. They told me it was due to settling which I found very hard to believe because there was a base installed first. He did not give me any satisfaction on this first problem at all. Now this past April we had noticed more shifting, pulling away from our driveway and pieces loosening up. I called and asked again about repairs , but was denied any service. We had to have another party come in and tear it completely down and come to find there was no proper base installed , the proper amount of glue was not used and it was not level. I had called them to inquire if they would at least pay half of that work, but he did not call back at all on this request, which I felt was only fair due to their poor job done originally. I still feel they should be at least paying half of the job redone, in all reality I really feel we are due back half of what they originally charged us, we paid a lot of money for this work only to be denied any satisfaction. They did not back up their work at all and we feel we should compensated for it. After all they are the contractor and should have fully explained to us all of our options. They did our driveway for us as well and we are having problems with it as well, but got no satisfaction on that either. This was a big dollar project and we feel we were taken advantage of. We are looking what our options are at this point not only for our satisfaction, but don't want to see anyone else go thru the same problem with this company.Thank you,Richard L. RammerDesired Settlement: We are looking for half of the labor back from the original install and half for the redo. We originally paid $3492.00 for the original job done, than another $300.00 to have them take the circle part down and make it square because they used the wrong product. most recently we had to pay another $600.00 to have it completely dismantled and redone correctly.
