Byrd plumbing is a capable and competent plumbing company Their work appears to be solid (though it's only the first day after) The issue is that they charged a lot higher than I expected Yes, it was within their estimate range, but on the high end of it - the end that was 'in case things don't go as planned' However, they completed the work in less time than planned and ran into no problems So, it shouldn't have had to be at the high end - the contingency part of the estimate They knew that my situation was emergent..so I believe they took advantage of that so it sort of tempers my happiness with the work If you are price conscious, shop elsewhere

We hired Byrd to identify and correct water seeping up through our basement floor. The woman who took our calls was always cheerful, helpful and notified us if there would be any delays in their arrival. The initial estimate was reasonable. They scheduled the work to accommodate our availability. The job involved busting up about 8 feet of our foundation to find the source of the leak, replacing the damaged sections of pipe and patching it all up. The worker who did the job covered our carpets to avoid any damage. He carried at least a ton of the old dirt up the stairs and out to the truck, then had to carry down bags of rock and concrete. It was a smelly, back-breaking job. But he was continuously polite and kept us updated on his progress. The entire job took a day and a half. When it was completed, we were given a $300 discount from the original estimate because the exploratory work took less time than the estimate allowed. This was the second significant plumbing repair that we have hired Byrd. The prior time was an equally positive experience. I will use them again in the future and highly recommend them.
