Byrd Roofing & Construction Reviews (9)

2/26/16This is Patti B***, Louis' wife (of 40 years in April). I'm in Oklahoma on a family matter, and had sent a request to have this reply (to Mr. I***'s rebuttal) extended to March 15. However, I spoke with Louis and he gave me the information (amounts, check number) I needed, which follows:As we mentioned in an earlier response, the roof was repaired, and, due to all the bad weather at that time, All Trades were running behind schedule about 3 months. We hired a subcontracted painter to repair the sheetrock damage and paint the room, but he didn't show up.While at the property,Louis was told by Brett I [redacted] that he'd be home all week. Apparently there was a mis-communication between he & Louis...Louis assuming anytime during the first part of the week would be fine, and Brett assuming Louis would be there Monday. Louis called another painter that same day, but had to leave a message, and did not hear back. The painter finally called Mon. evening, at which time Louis provided him the info. Louis called Brett and told him we'd be out to do the work, but that's when Brett told him not to come out. Louis called him again, but Brett would not speak to Louis and put his wife on the phone. He tried to explain to them that they needed to get 2 more bids , (since we would be paying), even though Brett wouldn't allow Louis to come do the work) & that even insurance recommends 3 estimates for work to be done; she raised her voice and said she was sure her husband wouldn't do that. Finally, after that, she said she'd tell her husband what Louis had said. I was in the same room as Louis and can verify this, & he did not have his cell on speaker either! Then the painter called Brett but was told that they were going to use their own painter! So: there was 1 bid (painter we'd contacted), and Louis did not "deny" this bid (or any bid). We received a call from Mrs. I [redacted] informing Louis that they'd gotten a bid, which made bids a total of 2, and Louis asked them to send it to the email. When he got it, it was 2 ½ times greater than the $750 estimate the painter we'd contacted had given us.We didn't hear back from them and next thing I know, we got an email (with an attachment) from the I***s: the invoice from B & L Painting for work done (NOT AN ESTIMATE) $1,729.50 marked "PD IN FULL CK#1317."The initial estimate was for $750. We did NOT "turn down" Any Bid, we were waiting for the I***s to provide the third estimate that Mrs. I [redacted] agreed to get but which they never did. They told us, both verbally and via email, that we faced legal action, the last time it being at the bottom of an email, "See you in court thief!"In conclusion, what began as miscommunication has indeed turned into not only a mess but now he's defaming our character. How unfortunate for everyone.Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.Patti B [redacted] for Louis B***, OwnerB [redacted] Roofing and Construction

MrB*** is quite the story teller. After months of getting promises after promises and no action, I finally hired another contractor to complete the work He also forgot to mention that independent contractors came out and submitted bids to him (one being HIS OWN subcontractor) and he denied their bids, again leaving me with sheet rock and paint that was damaged that our family had to look atAlso MrB***s license is suspended per AZROC>Look it up
See you in court thief!

in this complaint bring lodged against B[redacted] Roofing and Construction, may I explain? In March 2014 we discovered our then-secretary and two salesmen were stealing, not only money, but leads that were being called in to B[redacted] Roofing. They were building their customer base for the company they were forming from those leads. So much so that they took contracts written on B[redacted] Roofing forms and told the customer(s) they "are the 'NEW' B[redacted] Roofing." We were experiencing extreme stress and seeing Physicisns for literally months. In fact, we were in Oklahoma for October and part of November for medical treatment. The roof repairs were made, even though all trades are two to three months behind due to the hailstorm of June 29 and the prolonged monsoon season this year. I spoke with Mr. I[redacted], at his house, and reassured him that the inside repairs would be seen about since I wanted to bring in another painter. He said he'd be home all that next week. I called another painter to set it up for Monday but he didn't return my call until Tuesday  morning. at which time I called Mr. I[redacted] and that's when he said for me not to come out, that he was going to use his own painter. I called him three times and never heard from him. The AZ ROC guidelines state that if there is a complaint the homeowner must allow the contractor to remedy it . He would not. I would have gone to his house last week when I was in [redacted] for another reason, had he. Hence, you can imagine my surprise at learning of his complaint to your organization. In closing, our company has been in this industry for over fifty years and I've been in charge for over forty of those yesrs.
