Review: My minor daughter purchased a 2000 [redacted] from C & G in October 2014 for $4500. After having the car for 2 weeks, the check engine light came on. We had it diagnosed at[redacted] and it was coded as an issue with the secondary air pump. Called[redacted] and made arrangements to take the car back to have it looked at and repaired. He claimed it was a loose hose and supposedly fixed it. After a few days, the light came back on, again it was coded as the same pump and also found wet spots in our driveway, something was leaking. Brought it back to have it looked it once again. Was told it was the hose to the pump had again came loose, power steering fluid was leaking and then were shocked when we were told that one of the motor mounts was bad. They supposedly fixed the hose to the pump again, stopped the leak but had to come back to replace the motor mount as it had to be ordered. Car was brought back for repair of the motor mount. All was good until the check engine light came on again! Guy told her to bring it back, leave it for the day so that he can put it on some machine all day. The car was brought in to do just that. Again, it was supposedly fixed. Shortly after that, the car had problems starting therefore needed to be towed. We used a local mechanic who ended up replacing the fuel filter which was the original one still in the car. After he started the car, the check engine light came on and was coded again for the secondary air pump. So again, the issue was not fixed. At this point, neither one of us trusted C & G Gulf to properly fix this car but we did contact them to explain the issue and express our upset. Shortly after, the car continued to have a starting issue and now on this date it is at the [redacted] dealer. They explained to us today that the starting issue is separate from the secondary air pump issue; however, the secondary air pump is indeed bad and needs to be replaced. This is going to cost $800. I strongly feel that this is why C & G Gulf did not replace the pump when the car was still under warranty, which was only a 50/50 warranty to begin with for 30 days. I have since found information that the use of those terms is actually illegal. It is clear to me that this company, C & G Gulf, knowing this pump was bad, avoided fixing it to save them money. I am extremely upset that the owner of C & G Gulf sold a car with so many issues to an innocent minor who has very little money to spend on a vehicle to begin with and now has to spend hundreds, possibly thousands more to get it in good working condition. That is not good business practice.Desired Settlement: Ultimately, I think what would be more than fair is that C & G reimburse my daughter for the cost of replacing the secondary air pump. I am not including the two repairs done by our local mechanic as those were both $100 each, as well as the starting issue as I believe they knew about the issue but skirted around it hoping the 30 day warranty would expire before the check engine light came back on. The cost of the replacement by the dealer is going to be $800 or more. She paid a decent amount for this car that as it turns out was put back together, according to the local mechanic who replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs, with all junk yard and used parts. To me, that is also unacceptable.[redacted], the owner, gave his word that this was a good car. It is not.
