C & R Siding, Windows & Roofing Reviews (4)

Review: IN September 2012 we entered into a contract to have our home sided by C& R with vinyl siding that was resistant to punctures, scratches, loss of color. Due to the lateness in the year the contractor did not start the job until April 2013. In October 2013 the job was finally completed. (Very slow progress and work.) We found a few areas missed which were brought to the Attention of C & R which resulted in the same slow service. Eventually those were corrected but a piece of siding on my garage fell off. They applied it twice and the third time stated it should not fall off again.

In April 2014 we discovered that something hit the siding and caused a crack and piece of the siding to fall out. We contacted C &R and asked when we could have them repair that. I was told that the piece would be ordered and they would get back to us to schedule the repair. Two weeks went by without communication and another phone call was made. I spoke with [redacted] who said the piece had arrived and that they would be out in a couple weeks to install it. Due to bad weather I waited and after not hearing anything about a firm date placed a call and sent an email to C & R on their website. Still no communication. After several days of trying I was able to speak with [redacted] again and she told me that the siding would be completed by the end of the week (Friday before good Friday.) That time came and went and still no repairs. On or about May 15, the same piece of siding from my garage that fell off in the fall of 2013 fell off again. I called them about that and have not heard back from C& R. Several voice messages have went unanswered up to including telling them that I am trying to be reasonable and am only expecting them to repair the work and set a firm date. I left a message again today. The siding applied's warranty has a 20 year replacement according tot he initial sales pitch. I never received a copy of the warranty or product registration as C & R stated they would file that for us. We never received any copies from the manufacturer or C&R showing the product was registered. I believe that is in violation of Wisconsin Law ACTP 110.04.Desired Settlement: Complete the work requested and provided warranty and certificate showing that our siding was registered with the Manufacturer. I am not willing to wait another 7 months to get this simple items completed like it took to get the original work completed. If he is unwilling to complete the work, allow me to pursue this with another contractor for the repair and he agrees to pay the bill.

Review: I signed a contract on 8/15/13 to install shingles on my house, garage, and shed and a metal roof on the barn. The barn roof was never done. I gave him a check for materials of $13,088 supposedly for materials. When the old shingles were removed from the house, the tarps were not secured and water leaked into an upstairs bedroom. The barn is also having water leaking into it because the project was not done before winter. When I called in April, I was told by the secretary that I would be the first project to be completed this year. I am not getting a response to my phone calls now at all.Desired Settlement: Finish the job and deduct the cost to have the water damage repaired.

Review: Talked to Raimund I[redacted] about putting a metal roof on my garage, and getting the roof on my breeze way fixed and also new doors and windows installed in the breeze way . Told him 4-5 times that I wanted a METAL roof not a shingled one. He came to have me sign a contact on March 24, 2015 for $6,200 and wrote a down payment for $3,100. Never gave me a date to start the work or how long it would take. On April 9th my window broke in my breeze way so I called him to come over and discuss when he was starting and he brought over samples of colors for a shingled roof and I said NO I WANT A METAL ROOF. So he changed it to a metal roof. But he did not change the contract but he added another $450 to the bill. On April 20th the crew was her to start. They removed the shingles on the garage and covered it with tarps. For two weeks it rained off and on and I called to have someone come out and fix where it was leaking. During the two weeks there was someone sent to "fix" where it was leaking, they installed the tar paper and was told that the breeze way was supposed to be done first before the garage was to be started. Then two weeks later a new tar and tar paper were installed because of the leaking and they started on the breeze way. Then during the next week it rained again and it leaked into the breeze way and the garage. Then they installed some kind of plastic sheet on the roof. Then when the sheet metal guy finally got home he came to measure the roof for the breeze way and the garage. He said that it would take 8 to 10 days for the metal roof to be delivered. on June 10th they finally installed the metal roof. This work was done WITHOUT a building permit. There was supposed to be a 5/8 inch firewall installed on the inside of the garage, which is code and was informed that it needed to be installed. He installed 1/2 inch drywall. (I am currently looking for someone to install the firewall in the garage.) On June 25th he came over for a final payment of $2700. The windows and doors were never installed and I still have a broken window in my breeze. I did not give him the final payment for the work because it was not complete and told him to leave and he said that he was going to take me to court to get the final payment.Desired Settlement: To have him pay for installing the correct firewall in garage, and an explanation of way he took so long for job completion. Why was the job started before the metal roofing was even ordered. Compensation for the damage to the ceiling in the breeze way because of the rain leaking in.

Response:

All I can say to this complaint is this is non-sense. I have a signed contract with her signature for a shingles roof, also a signed contract for extra materials that were used for the job. A signed contract is a legal contract. I would prefer that I get paid for the work that has been completed.
