Good Afternoon, Please accept my apologies for the delay in our responseWe have never experienced a formal complaint since our company’s inception in We were contracted with *** *** to demolish an existing concrete patio and install a new stone patioWe broke up the patio
and transported the spoils of that demolition up the rear stairs, through the *** residence, down the front stairs and onto our trucksWe then transported the loaded trucks to a concrete recycling facilityThe next task in the job sequence was we procured and delivered stone dust for the drainage base of the new patioThe stone dust was transported through the home and installed in the footprint of the new patioIt was mechanically compacted in 2” lifts to ensure future stability While this work was occurring there was a discrepancy in the nomenclature of the stone that was being requestedIt wasn’t exactly specified by the designer and we were having difficulty finding exactly what was being requested because it wasn’t exactly clear what was being requestedBluestone is a generic termThere is New York bluestone which has an array of earth tone colorsThere is Pennsylvania bluestone which is consistently blueThen there are different textures of bluestone with the two previously mentioned groupsThermal finish is smooth, natural cleft has a natural appearanceStand up bluestone is entirely different all togetherSo you see the point I’m trying to makeAnd to make matters worse different quarries have their own names for their products After sending a picture of tumbled bluestone to the client we procured, delivered and installed a portion of the patioOur supplier did not have enough stone in stock as there was a shortage of bluestone throughout the entire northeast as the previous winter was quite harsh and quarries couldn’t harvestAt that point *** *** grew impatient and informed me that he would like to disengage our agreementI granted his wish and sent him and invoice for the work that was completed onlyThe completed work was labor intensive and the access to the rear yard was two flights of stairs and through the home There was a crew of three onsite for a weekOther than labor there were additional costs associated with the completed workFloor protection for inside the home, recycling fees, fuel, purchase of materials- stone dust and bluestone The completed work would normally have been invoiced for a greater amount of the deposit however given the situation I simply discounted the invoice and charged exactly what the deposit wasAt this time, we are offering *** *** a refund of $(five hundred dollars)We will send a letter via certified mail to *** *** stating such tomorrow morning at 9am when the post office opens A brief history of our company- we are a family business established in by my fatherWe employ a diverse crew of twenty-two peopleWe are socially responsible having been televised nationally twiceOnce for the Extreme Makeover Home EditionAnd once on the Nightly News with *** *** for our volunteer work landscaping the homes of veterans Respectfully Submitted, *** ** *** *** President C&C Landscape Contractors, Inc
