From: Michael E [redacted] info Subject: case # [redacted] REF: ***[email protected]> In reference to this complaint: My company has been working on this drain since at least 4/5/When we first worked on this sewer there was only one clean out on the sewerWe told the owners at that time that it needed another clean out installed nearer to where the city sewer was locatedThey did not think it needed it at the timeWe set this property up to run the sewer line twice a year and stated that without a nearer clean out we could only run so far, he said he understoodHe later had a relative install a clean outWe began our recall program and each time (myself most of the time) we attempted to clean this sewer out from this clean out we would run into problems and each time we would tell the owner that they needed to replace the sewerThis sewer is connected with the sewer to the north of them and when we did not get hung up the cable would end up turning back and going toward the house to the northThe owner was out there with us each and every time and knew what was going on both visually and by oral conversation with me explaining over and over that he was just biding his time and eventually this would happen and he would need to replace the sewerAs far as my man’s experience, He has worked for me before and had experience on the machine, also I had another employ with him in a training capacityI can absolutely guarantee that if I had known this was the sewer they were working on even I would have had the same problems ( in the past we were able to get it freed up)We do not do installation work or replace sewers, we contact other contractors or allow the owners to contact whoever they want for repairs, so we have no incentive to tell a person they need something done just to get work (we do not work like this period)As far as the contractor we called out to give them an estimate to repair the line, They have been in business for practically as long as usThey are reliable and are less expensive than some of the othersI was trying to help the owners get this done as reasonable as possibleNow as to their sewer in generalIt is now and has been since I started working on it, is in such a condition that it does now and has needed to be replacedThis sewer and the sewer to the north are connected and as far as the city of Terre Haute, IN is concerned the two should be separated and individual sewers hooked upAlso these sewers on the west side run all the way across the street and into the yards of the houses on the east sideIf these sewers were to be re-laid & connected legally each property could be looking at a whole lot more moneyPlease find attached a list of the times we did do the sewer cleaning herePlease notice the dates and that the missing times were cancellations on their partIn ending, please let me say, My company and any other company cannot guarantee that we can work on a sewer and get it cleanedThat is the reason there are so many sewer repair and replacement companies out thereYes I am sorry that this sewer needs the attention that is required but we do not work for freeI and the contractor that I called do not want any further work at this addressThey will have to find their own contractorI charged them for only one hour and I lost $of cable in their sewerNo I am offering them nothing, as I already did offer them a reasonable price to repair this one bad section of sewer lineI hope this answers your complaint, if you need any more info or detail, please call me @ the phone # on your records***[email protected]> hank You, Michael A E [redacted] [email protected]>

The complatant has filed a small claim and we will decide this matter in court. I understand how they feel but if they had listened to us in the years prior and repaired the line as we recommended, we would not be in this situation now. Our estimate to remedy the situation (repair the sewer that was already broke down prior to our initial service) was far below what they say they paid to have it repaired. As I stated before it was their decision to do the repairs their selves. If we had broken their sewer, we would have accepted responsibility, but we cannot accept responsibility when we are aware of a problem and have consulted with the owners and they ignore it. They claim to have plus years of experience, the man they sent to do the job had a full "2-Days Experience" of doing this kind of work.I expect to be reimbursed the cost of what it cost me the consumer of getting their cable out of my drain clean-outHe "Mike E***" sent a crew out that told me
that it was going to cost me $700-$to get the cable out of the drain that they had gotten stuckThat wasn't happening, I told him to send the bill to Mike since his guy got it stuck in my drain clean-outIt was going to be on me and I hired my own crew to get the cable out, so I do expect to be reimbursed my cost of getting his cable out of the drain

They found nothing wrong with the drain line from my property over to the main.I am not the person that put the cable in my drain clean-out, that I had installed (I thought) to make it easier on them to get the job completed. But it looks like it never got cleaned from this company. I paid them $125 each time they came out for nothing, plus I get stuck with the cost of having their cable removed and the damages from them getting the cable all wrapped up in my drain."Real" professionals cleaned the drain while it was opened up.This is a very poor excuse for a so-called business and they should be ashamed of how they are treating people.
