Review: C&J Custom Carpentry (VA License #[redacted] renovated a barn for us. We dealt with [redacted]. They finished the job on March 29th. By mid-April we had a carpentry workmanship issue with a barn door that causes it to be very difficult to open and close. Essentially, a key support bracket for the door was secured very close to edge of the support board and looks to have cracked the board at the time of installation. This has allowed the track to move and made the door very hard to open. We contacted [redacted] early on May 1st, who said he would look at it within a week. He never showed and now will not respond to requests that he fix the problem. I have tried to see if I can fix it myself, but it looks to need to have the door track removed and the cracked support boards replaced. We paid him a lot of money ($35,000) and didn't expect a problem as soon as he was finished. Our contract with him provided a 5 year warranty on his work. However, he seems unwilling honor the warranty.Desired Settlement: We would like for [redacted] to either come fix our barn door, or we will get an estimate for the repair by someone else and have him refund the cost for having this fixed.
